Dragged the HW50S out of the safe this arvo

Haven’t felt like shooting the past 5 months, I was diagnosed with Hpv Opc throat cancer back in October, get my first pet scan in 6 weeks, fingers crossed.
Anyhow I finally felt like doing something different then watching tv this arvo so out came the 50S. What an amazing little rifle, no adjustment, no practice and cold out of the safe. It doesn’t get much better than that for an out of the box springer IMO. 22 cal shooting FTT Trophy Green 9.56 gr, at 30 metres.

Very satisfying indeed

Gary sorry to hear. I wish you the best. I’m going thru a lot of difficult times myself. My rifles especially my springers provide a nice distraction .Looks like you have an awesome shooting range! Great shooting I’m fond of the 50s .22 myself as well as my vintage fwb124’s My two 50s are .22 never felt the need to tune. Both shot great out of the box. Mike

Hey Gary, that's a hell of a precipice you're standing on... I know, I'm a throat cancer survivor. The good news is they have made much progress in cancer treatment, especially in head and neck cancer. I was diagnosed in the spring of 2011. After chemotherapy and radiation treatments I was cancer free in December of the same year. Just take it one day at a time... it can be done.

By the way I recently acquired a hw50s in .20 cal... a great rifle and the perfect distraction for you.

Sorry to hear that- I’m in a similar situation after a year of severe health problems- I have long term damage to my to my throat and stomach & am at high risk for cancer among other health problems. Go in next month for check up & endoscopy. Airguns usually keeps my spirts up, hope they help you as well.

Love your HW50 - looks like very nice shooter.

Fingers crossed for you over here too.

I recently joined the hw50 club and my other guns have been severely neglected. I shoot to in the basement or backyard to clear my mind of work and stress and really think it’s made a tangible difference in my blood pressure and health.

Hope the next few weeks aren’t too stressful for you; but at least you got a very nice looking range to clear your mind on!

Hi Gary - try to have a positive attitude. It's one of the most important things when dealing with cancer. I'm going in on this Friday for my PET scan (Melanoma cancer). The last thees scans came back clean. I have been receiving infusions through a port in my arm for a year and so far so good. The medical community has made terrific strides in cancer treatment. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Bill

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. For my fellow cancer warriors I wish you all the best. I have been on this journey before with a prostate cancer diagnosis just over 3 years ago but surgery and then radiation when it returned has put that sucker in remission. So I’m hopefull for the same result.

This morning I pulled my Benjamin Titan 22 cal from the safe. It’s a great hunter and surprisingly not a bad target shooter. The only thing that lets it down is the trigger, some days it’s just as accurate as my German rifles and others (because of the trigger and shooter) it’s not. It usually takes a few shots before I can consistently hit the bull. I put a Gamo gas ram in it a couple of years ago and there was considerable improvement in cocking and shot cycle, much smoother. In fact it was with this rifle that I came second in the 100 yard golf ball challenge a couple of years ago.

Not the best groups in the world but not cherry picked either. I was shooting FTT’s at 35 meters. When I put the gamo ram it it was shooting the 14 gr FTT’s at around 710 FPS
