Donnyfl Tatsu Gauntlet

Wow!
Lets just say to start buying from Donny was a great experience. He was recommended to me by another forum member and all the other reviews i have read about his products and customer service is 100% true. I text, he texts me right back. I email him , he emails me right back. He actually calls me to further discuss one of my questions i had while deciding on my purchase. Very cool dude!

After he answered a few of my questions i was in fully understanding of how his product works and what performance i can expect from it. Outstanding customer service as far as companies go!

I must add i have no affiliation with Donny. He doesnt know im writting this review and im am receiving zero dollars for it. This review is for the people who would like to know about his product and as a thank you to Donny for having quality customer service/products.

Ok so that being said ill mention all i have experienced with my new Tatsu.
I purchased the Gauntlet .22 package to put on my .177 Gauntlet which includes the following:

.22 Tatsu $130
Gauntlet short shroud with 1/2 x 20 adapter $60
Gauntlet aluminum air stripper $12

All for $160

The barrel shroud and stripper fit perfectly and the finish looks better then Umarexs IMHO. To be clear the shroud is shorter then oem and does not use or have the room to accommodate the oem baffle system. This is done because the Gauntlet is a very large gun to begin with and adding the Tatsu would make it even larger. One of my questions to Donny was, "with a baffle system in place wouldnt it have been even more quiet along side the Tatsu? " He said that the baffle system takes up alot of room for whats its worth and with the Tatsu its not needed. I also asked about the Sumo as i always think bigger is better. He said its overkill for this Gauntlet .177 setup. What is overkill? LOL

 Thats what i do man!

Ultimately i decided to get the Tatsu package because Donny was confident i would like it and if i didnt he said he could upgrade me to the Sumo! Very nice! I thought about it, read some reviews first and then a few hours later I bought it! 10pm , click buy and minutes later i get a personal email from Donny saying Thank you and hes packaging up my order now! Then a few minutes later i get a tracking number! Wow , super fast service!! I really like that hes very communicative. I feel it goes to show you that hes very confident in his product, he'll be there to back it up or help you in whatever way he can.

The package arrived 3 days later on Saturday. It was well packaged and very easy to assemble. Threading was perfectly smooth and everything fit 100%. The finishes on the products were great. Everything looked awesome on the gun! I was pleased to see that if you do unscrew the Tatsu he does include a finish nut to cover threading and makes the barrel look whole again. The air stripper was also a nice touch to the package. It is pretty much identical to oem but aluminum. (Oem Gauntlet air strippers have been cracking or even arriving already broken) With everything together it looks awesome like i said. I thought maybe the Tatsu would look to stubby but in person it doesnt.

It was really late when i actaully had time to test fire it in my basement. Wow, its a huge difference! I know there was some echo and my duct work vibrates from the shot. The trap i made is so quiet i can barely hear it over the gun but still i was very impressed.
The next day i head over to my brothers to show him my new gun. He has some land so the ldc is really an option. Target set up at about 30 yards. First shot.... wow that was quiet. Second shot... wow thats really quiet. I had to check everything to see if it was even working right. I didnt think it was going to be that much more quiet outside then the basement. It was alot more silent now and i was shocked on how well it worked. We were both blown away with how silent the Tatsu was!! Amazing! I fired a few mags and everything Donny said now really was correct. Click.... no boom. I just hear the sound of the gun mechanics as Donny explained I would. He actaully sent me a cell phone video of how quiet it is but it doesnt do any justice. Outside with nothing for the sound to bounce off of its so quiet all i can hear is a loud report from the tree we tacked the target on.
For fun we took off the Tatsu , wow loud lol but fun! Tatsu back on , wow it sounds like a stapler! Back off.... CRACK! Back on... PuFF. Night and day difference for sure. Another unknown benefit i appreciated was now the Gauntlet without baffles is louder (with Tatsu off). I like hearing a report and or silence when i choose to. So to say the least we were impressed with Donnys work. I then shot some more later that night back in my basement and i picked up on what i was hearing. Im hearing the TRAP! I thought it was so silent before because the gun was so loud. Now all i hear is the trap report and still the duct work vibrations and maybe the air released echoing a little bit too.

I love this Gauntlet way more now! I had doubts and didnt want to spend $160 to put into a gun i paid $232 for. Now i would do it all over again in a heart beat! Completely worth the purchase and the package price was a no brainer. You really get alot for the money and i clearly see that now after owning it.

I took apart the Tatsu and the inside looks as good as the out and its completely serviceable. Theres some felt wrapped around a screen and then wrapped around an inner cage. I have seen a youtube video where a guy rewraps it with 1 inch compressed memory foam. He said it gets even better with that. Personally itd be a waste of time for me as it works very well the way it came.

I actaully have a db meter and didnt bother using it. I think at this sound level its more like what type of sound it makes then the actual volume. In alot of the videos i see them reviewing a doonyfl product and the their voices are equal to the silenced shot fired on the db meter.

Ill post some quick pics i took below and hopefully will update with nicer ones. I hope this review has helped someone and feel free to post or PM me with any questions. I dont know alot about this stuff but if i know the answer id be happy to help.

Thanks to Donny and the members on this forum for helping me with getting set up!
