DonnyFL Shogun or Huggett Magna?

Hello,

I want to buy a bigger silencer for my Impact and i hear that DonnyFL is better but i know that the Huggett is also a very good silencer and it looks way cooler to me.

So i would like to hear some opinions and experiences of others on these two and even better if someone can share experience with both brands even if not these specific silencers.

I already own a DonnyFL Koi but have never seen a Hugget.

Thanks!

I can’t comment on these two particular silencers, but I can comment on the brands and other brands. I have used a wide range of silencers, and for the most part... they are not that different when comparing similar models.

I tried several on my 30 Impact and could not tell much of a difference, at least not as far as better sound for more money. I compared the stock baffles, Huggett Snipe, STO, I forget the name of the other one. I have also tried Huggetts, Ramus Trident, Donnys (mostly Sumos) on other rifles. On the rifles, I couldn’t not tell much difference on any of them from a sound standpoint. I actually used the stock baffles after trying all the options on the Impact.

More so than price, the thing I noticed a bigger difference in was weight and how it affected the barrel droop shifting impact down on the Impact. Not a big deal, adjust once and you are good.

My advice is to use the one you like the looks of or that you like the price of. Sound wise, they are so close, that it doesn’t seem worth it to me. I currently still have a Sumo and a Snipe, so I like both brands.

Yup, I've also tested a LOT of silencers including huma, donnyfl, huggett, HW, custom etc.

When comparing models of similar dimensions there is very little, if any, practical difference in actual sound suppression. The pitch of the noise does differ between some models however - some prefer the sound of a lower pitch, while others prefer a higher pitch and sometimes equate that to one being quieter than the other.

I will say that I think some silencers work bettet on certain guns - I'm guessing it has something to do with matching the sound signature of the guns report with that of the silencer itself. Also there is more to this whole thing than volume, with 30-35mm diameter, >15cm long silencers seeming to be the most reliably 'quiet'. That is certainly not universal though and again, real world gains are relatively tiny.

I don't buy very short silencers whether they be fat or thin though (in my head I can't help but assume they'll work poorly), so my comments can't really include those.

Long story short - pick a quality made one you like the looks and feel of and don't look back.

Have 3 DonnyFLs one I use and the quality is high and the Tanto on my Compatto drops the noise level down 89 decibels to 72 decibels. I think Huggets look cool for sure, but I continually hear nothing but good about DFL on customer service. I’m a brand loyal guy. I have a ton of Patagonia clothing for the same reason, quality and amazing customer service. If you have an issue with a Patagonia jacket or something trust me, the Patagonia stands behind their products and it sounds like DonnyFL is the same.
