DonnyFL or Hugget ?

Hello,

I would like your opinions about which moderator to choose. I have a .25 Cricket which , being backyard friendly for most of us , is still a bit too loud for me; it seems that the sound is more a "crack" than something else. I check with the chrony to be sure I stay subsonic. By comparaison my .30 FX Boss is quieter , the sound is more in the bass tone than the Cricket.

So , I hesitate between 2 moderators : Hugget or Donnyfl ?

If anybody had some experience or comparaison with them I 'll be glad to share his impressions.

Thanks

I had tried both SUMO and Huggett standard at the time on BOTH a Cricket standard (22 caliber) and Cricket compact (22 caliber) and

according to MY ears, they are both around the same in quietness but not close to being silent. I tried an EMPEROR on a standard just to see how much quieter it got and its near silent with it but not practical for real world use due to its weight and size.

The quietest practical Cricket that I heard (actually NOT HEARD) was one with an Allen Zasadny custom shroud on it and was really surprised it wasn't any longer than my Cricket with the SUMO which wasn't even close to being that silent which reminded me of a Marauder in 177 caliber with a HUGE Neil Clague attached to the end of the factory shroud which sounded like the gun was either broken or wasn't firing properly or completely out of air. I was told that you have to send your gun to him (Allen Z) in order to get his custom made LDC or shroud fitted and installed specifically for that gun to be perfectly concentric or off concentric to match your bore exactly with a long wait time but he is supposed to be the best in the business and builds shrouds and LDCs specific to only your gun with the tightest exacting tolerances to eliminate any chance of clipping and claims to make your gun more accurate with his shroud or LDC fitted to your gun and the exit hole is barely larger than the pellet.

If you want a DonnyFL quieter than the Huggett you have to go larger than the SUMO and would suggest at least a RONIN since you want to quiet a 25 caliber. You can ask him for his opinion based on the level of quiet you need but I think a SUMO won't be enough for you which is comparable to the Huggett standard. I have a drawer full of LDCs I tried out which didn't seem to work as well as others and I use quieter ones on the guns I normally use.

Probably use them one day for lower powered 10 meter or 12fpe PCP Rifle or Pistols. Maybe pumpers or Co2 guns.
