DonnyFL Emperor V3 vs V2

I have both the V2 & V3 for a .40 cal Badger. The only reason I bought the V3 was for the 6.5" extension. On the Badger I could not really tell a diference between the V2 & V3. IMHO with the volume of air the Vulcan 2 in .30 is putting out you would not hear any difference. After adding the 6.5 extension there was a big difference, but that is another story.

I have a Ronin on an FX Impact .30 and because the end cap of the Ronin will fit the V3 I have tried the V3 on the Impact. To my ear I could not tell a difference. Tells me the Ronin is the "right size" for the .30 cal Impact or equal power level rifle. Unless you want the look of the longer can, either version of the Emperor may be more suppressor than you need for the rifle. Another note, the 6.5 extension fits the Ronin, so if you bought the Ronin and wanted more volume in the can it is easy to add it.

Thanks for the response. I have a Ronin-not V3 and it quiets the vulcan2 30 cal down some but it's still too loud for me. It's set at 880fps for the 44.75gn JSBs and is quite louder than when it was originally set at 860fps. I did get a 30 cal Emperor V3 for it and it's much more quiet than with the Ronin. I might get the 6.5 extension for it.

I have a Ronin on my Impact .30 at 100fpe and tried an Emperor. The Emperor v3 has almost a 1/2' hole through it and is not quieter at all on my gun. It has a lower tone but more pop. I prefer the Ronin with UNI BF1 filter foam in place of the felt.

Can you give us some more info on the difference in sound on the Ronin with the foam compared to the felt it comes with? I have a Shogun on my Impact .25 and Sumo on my Streamline .22. The Streamline is whisper quiet. The Impact with Shogun is not. Wondering if the larger diameter of Ronin was the way to go?

Aloha SpeedStar,

I have several moderators from donnyfl & hugget. I have played with different materials to see which type will make my guns the most quiet. Here's my list with what made my guns the quietest.

Fx impactX .25 700mm w/ emperor v3 wrapped with high density foam.

Edgun R5M long .25 w/ ronin wrapped with plumber's felt (3/16 thick)

Taipan veteran std.. 25 w/ shogun wrapped with high density foam

Brocock bantam sniper hr .25 w/ sumo wrapped with uni-foam

Fx streamline .22 w/ sumo wrapped with plumber's felt

And just waiting for my Charlie Frear tuned cricket .25 I have to see what works best for this gun.

Hope this helps. If you have questions PM me.

Aloha,

Keone
