Done buying PCPs...

Every once in a while something special strikes my fancy, and it's usually beyond what I "should" afford, if you know what I mean. That gets me in trouble for a few extra months or longer but it gets paid for eventually and most of the time I'm happy that I spent the money.

I have some higher quality cherished items that I'm so happy I bought when I did. One of them is $1000 more right now than when I purchased mine new 7 years ago. It is also tied with another rifle as my favorite, but it is definitely my #1 pick of any of it's kind in the whole world for my purposes!!!

The truth is that regular guns just don't turn my crank anymore so I rarely buy them.

I did sell most of my regular stock guns as the years went by and put that money towards the high end stuff which I couldn't be happier about doing.

I'm just a regular guy myself as far as money goes but I have friends that are very wealthy.

You'll laugh at this next story. I know a guy that was miffed because he was having trouble finding a home insurance policy that would cover his 1000 plus guns! He ended up insuring them through Loyds of London, lol. He decided to retire, so he moved to Montana to his 2000 acre ranch and built a exquisite new home.

Another guy I know has a large room full of rare collectible guns. I mean every wall is full of them in custom made racks! He owns a ton of machine guns and a cannon as well, lol.

Yet another has an even bigger room full of guns, some #1 serial numbered items, and some super expensive and very rare collections, also a indoor shooting range.

Nah, I don't spend too much money, lol.

I just want to avoid having a safe full of guns I don’t shoot. Did that already with powder burners. My Compatto is my woods walking gun, the Sniper is my benchrest/plinker and overwatch pester, the pp700sa is my close range ratter, and finally the Urban as a inexpensive, but accurate loaner. The Brococks amaze me with their practical field accuracy, so I’m set... for now.

i can't commit to a statement like that.

my name is carl, and i am an addict.

i have a problem when i get into a hobby. my basement has over $12,000 of wood working machinery and that doesn't include the hand tools and wood inventory. i once had 7 sailboats at the same time (down now to 2) and 3 motorcycles. sold our house and built a new one 2 blocks from a marina so i could be on the water fishing 1/2 hour after work. still have $1,000s in fishing gear but sold the boat. i have 14 - 35 mm and large format cameras sitting on my desk and 67 different lenses for them. 5 stereos from the 70s, 80s, and 90s and 100s of vinyl. i've never really been a car guy, but when i owned a mini cooper i put w a y too much money into the suspension and engine. 9 years ago when i was into the fitness scene i ran 5 miles, 6 days a week and worked out for 4 hours, 4 days a week. so the way i look at it, i currently own 7 air rifles and 1 pistol. so, if i want to be fair with my dedication to this hobby, i need to buy a lot more guns. 😉

suffice to say that if i drank or smoked, i'd be dead from alcohol poisoning or lung cancer.

and no, i'm not single. married over 41 years to a very understanding woman.

I'm (almost) done buying air guns (I think LOL!)

I still have my original Slavia 618 and Crosman 101 from when I was a kid. Like most people, I got into powder burners and strayed away from airguns for years (decades). About 35 years ago a bit of spare cash and a wander through the local sports store netted me a FWB 124 and renewed my interest in springers. I was happy with that until about 5 years ago when I started noticing targets with people claiming 1/2" groups at 40-50 yards - BS! I said and started doing research - turned out to be true and the bug bit hard. Sold most of my powder burners to fund my new AG addiction and been smiling ever since.

I have a decent collection of nice AGs that I have purchased for specific applications that interest me (10 meter target, plinking, pesting, FT and hunting). I have 10 acres of rural property with a permanent shooting range setup 15 steps from the backdoor; I do a lot of shooting and all my AGs see regular use.

I thought I was done buying until I stumbled across the videos by Matt, Bob-O and Gerhard & Roelf - who were having way too much fun with their .22 Impacts for me not to join the party. So I opened a new category - "Long Range Pesting" and have a .22 Impact on order. Lots of the local farms have pigeon problems so I am going to spend the summer practicing and offer to do some pesting in the fall.

I may get a .25 or .30 barrel kit for larger pests but I think that I am done buying unless something extra special shows up. ...might be nice to have a dedicated .30 Impact instead of having to swap barrels though :)

If you have enough pcps good on ya. For me I need a couple more for prepping purposes.I like the idea of a Texan 45. I can make my own lead bullets for free or cheap and less loud than muzzle loaders altho I got those too. I hear you on the compressors though way too expensive. I use the handpumps for exercise and I am fixing my Yong heng. I feel the purchases I made are justified for the ability to shoot in my backyard and teach my daughter gun safety. I also use a gamo urban and marauder 177 field and target using cph so the money I save in ammo gas and membership fees at the local shooting range really helps out. I might stop after the Texan but........ No promises.

I’ve quit buying PCPs several times now.

It never gets old.

LMAO, I like that one. My life story,LOL

I don’t want to wake up and find I’ve spent 20K on PCPs. I love the hobby, but I can only shoot one gun at a time. More pellets and another bipod and I’m set... my safe full of firearms, that haven’t been shot in ages is my “lesson learned”. While my sportsman’s club is only 4 miles away, I still prefer to shoot targets and plink in my backyard. Between my four PCPs, and three springers (Beeman R7 and Hwk77 and RWS34) I feel like I’m already living large.
