Done buying PCPs...

Even though there are a lot of super sweet PCPs out there. I’m done for a good long time. I’ve been shooting PCPs less than three years. Started with a Gamo Urban with a Mantis scope and a hand pump $500. Stepped up to my sweet Compatto .22 with DonnyFl Tanto and Aztec Emerald atop $1300. pp700sa with DonnyFl Tanto and folding stock $350ish. Finally my Bantam Sniper HR Hi-lite with Athlon Helos atop $1700. This is of course leaving out two SCBAs and fill stations and my Hatsan Lightning compressor. So quite a chunk of change in a short time. No regrets as I’m am loving shooting/plinking/pesting with my PCPs. I know that some of you have impressive stables of PCPs. But, me I’m yelling “uncle” and will be concentrating on pellet purchases going forward and enjoying what I have.

That’s not a bad place to be. It’s easy to get carried away. I applaud your decision.

I got a little stupid myself with my knife buying. Adopted a more conservative approach lately. Only buying the ones I know I will use and fit my needs. The others will be sold.

As for airguns, I’m on the same path, but not entirely done yet. Got at least 2 more spring guns to get. PCPs? I’m doing some soul searching.

I agree,

I have set my limit to 3 PCPs, I am looking at sending my Cricket away, Keep the Vet and the Raptor and will be looking for a 3rd one.
I want to keep the Vet and get another shorty for hunting. My raptor will be mostly for bench and some hunting. That way our son and I can go shoot birdies together as he doesn't like plinking or paper shooting. I also want get the max of my guns by trying to tune for different pellets and slugs. I want to try to get the best of what I have even if it isn't perfect or EBR level.|

I’m with you guy’s I can’t keep up with the latest greatest! I’ve already spent to much $$$ on guns I thought I needed then usually regret it later! I’m an average working man and put three children through college and that means more to me than any gun in the world! Besides I can only shoot one at time anyway! I need to be thankful for what I have and not worry about the latest and greatest... another thing “if I stayed off these forums & YouTube I wouldn’t be tempted!”

i am almost there i just need that perfect one, for my second pcp just not sure what bullpup it is , the one im leaning torwards is taipan .25, but a vulcan is close second, third runner up is edgun, followed by wildcat or dreamlite. i have alot of research and deciding to do, not to mention saving/hiding the money lol. I wish i could walk into a place and see and try all of them that would help lol

Man, I can identify 💯 with this. I was a watch collector and serial flipper for 5-6 years, and let me tell you - that realm is an entirely different level.

I have 8 respectable PCPs now, but Leshiy is really like having two different guns and my MKII is in 3 calibers - so it an be perceived as having 13 depending on how you look at it 😬. I only have an opportunity to shoot 2-4x per month, so I'm on the same path - consolidate down to 3 and enjoy them. The funny thing is that all 3 of those are my EDguns 😎

I’m exactly in your shoes, LLEON. I too, started this hobby 3 years ago, and looks like you and I have acquired the same investments in gun amounts, compressor from Hatsan, etc. it sure is a big chunk of change in 3 years.

been Doing some soul searching myself, as I found myself selling off two of my prized springers that I knew one day I would hand down to my nephews and son, to fund another PCP. What are you doing, I asked. You’re like a freakin’ crack addict! That’s when I looked at my four PCP’s and took stock of what I currently owned, and appointed them each their sole duty. This one for bench shooting, this one gets to be a loaner when a friend comes, this is for when the neighbors call on me for critter dispatch, etc.

And once I did that, I realized, why the heck do I need anymore pcp’s? Unless a new one hits the scene in a 30 cal that has a regulated shot count of 80 shots at 1000 FPS, 20 round magazine, and guaranteed dime sized groups, I don’t need anymore. So, after I pick up this next one, that’s where I end all gun purchases. Pellets only from then on, or bling for the guns. I figure one day my Lightning will give up the ghost, so I’m just gonna start stashing up now for an Alkin Mariner.

I wanna end this by saying I admire the folks that own the original FX Royale, and how they go on to say how simple that gun is, how very accurate, looks great, and how it still lives up to its reputation as a great gun that performs almost as equal as the new guns out today.

Fortunately $$$ and unfortunately my situation has changed and I’m done too. Moved into a house that doesn’t have the squirrels that my old house did. The old house was absolutely perfect with 7 pecan trees and 4 fig trees, culdasac with two empty lots, one beside me and one across the street. City park one block away and older neighbors that wanted them all dead. It was like Louisiana “ A Sporsmans Paridise.” Dang I miss that place. I own a bunch of PCPs and I primarily have two that are my go to for squirrels and sparrows.
