Does this make any sense to you guys ?

So today I was trying for the first time to tune my new to me impact first gen . When I bought the impact it had the 25 barrel on it and I wanted to run the 30 Cal. Since I just bought a new mk2 in 25.

When I put the 30 on it I was only getting low 700's fps so I knew I could get better than that . I started turning up the hammer spring tension and got it to 830-834 fps shooting jsb 44.75's . I started to sight in my scope with the new speed and after about 5-6 shots I had a sharp pain in my left hand . I looked down and I was bleeding pretty good and my finger was ripped open a bit . I looked the gun over and didn't see anything that looked broke so I set the impact down and went in to get a rag for my finger . Since there didn't seem to be any thing wrong with the impact I tried to shoot it again and it seemed fine . I shot it over the chrony and it had dropped to about 780-785 fps and stayed there for another full mag .

The reg pressure is 150

Fps was 830-835

Pellets were jsb 44.75

Here are some pics of how I was holding the impact and one of my finger . Do any of you have any idea what could have happened and why did I lose 50 fps after it did it . Was it something I could have done and should I continue to shoot it ?

Thanks

Seem like your finger was at the edge of the barrel. Even the air alone from these pcp will rip your skin apart. Why the heck would you remove the LDC? And why are you holding at the end o the bottle? I hold my impact under the bottle in the middle. One thing about these impact is never over power them. They aren't made for power and when you push them to much. The tiny 1.5mm screw holding the probe can break and the air will push the probe into your body. Very dangerous. It has happened.

I had my hand that far forward because I was keeping it between the metal chair and the tank . The moderator is on the 25 barrel and I can't get it off . I guess I will have to try again tonight to get it off the 25 barrel . The one from the 30 Cal was on the 25 barrel when I got it . I don't think it could have been a ricochet I was shooting at a target 30 yards away in the field

Finger may have been further out. When you were looking through scope you lose some of the orientation of your hold and your finger was in front of the barrel.

However, the velocity drop for an entire magazine after that with no other changes to the gun is strange. Did a seal blow out towards the front? Is your internals modified anyway, like enlarged transfer port, etc? Any aftermarket parts that may have failed and got blown out and ricochet??

Ok I got the moderator back on and put the bipod back on I should have went into the house and got the bipod instead of trying to shoot off the back of the chair . I really think the pellet came apart or something but that still doesn't explain the 50 fps drop

Pellets do not come apart during flight. Never heard of such a thing. The way you hold your gun seem dangerous. Remind me of people who hold their revolvers at the cylinder and the blast rip their thumb off. I'm pretty sure it was due to how your hold your gun that's how you get hurt. I never had a problem with mine impact and I shot like 3000 rounds through it. As for the drop in fps. Its 99% due to the c3 o ring. Search for impact c3 o ring and you will find out more detail about it and how to replace it with derlin washer.

Dankleinman,

We've PM'd you so that one of our techs can call you directly tomorrow and help you figure out what happened and walk through getting your Impact shooting the .30 cal pellets at the optimum speed. Very strange what happened, but we're happy to talk to you and help figure out what happened (if possible) and make sure your rifle is shooting optimally.
