Does it exist?

Last Monday I found myself on the ground, some 30 yards away, from three hogs around 100-120+ lbs, including one boar, armed with a .22 Gamo Urban while squirrel hunting. Just didn't have the confidence in the power of the rifle to take a shot. I was confident that I could hit the skull over the brain, but just didn't have the confidence that it would penetrate and didn't want to be on the ground with that boar if it didn't.

So what I am looking for is a rifle compact enough to trudge through the Georgia swamps with, that will give me at least five good shots at 200 ft lbs or more, that is a repeater that I don't have to load one at a time while in a thicket with an angry pig, for under $1000. Does such an animal exist?

Bulldogs are great but you really will want more (and unless you can do your own modifications) and a good upgrade right from the get go is the https://www.pitbullairguns.com/

I have a .357: Texan, Ataman M2R Tact Carbine (really just a quality pellet rifle), Pitbull Mega, Wicked Air Rifles FLEX and a Slayer (ordered) and for someone on a budget who wants the best performance for their dollar I recommend the Pitbull although I might tell someone else to get the extended air tube and the long moderator which is the 'unleashed' version. Or go to Jefferson State Air Rifles and get their long tube.

With an unmodified Bulldog you might want to stay around 120gr bullets or less to get favorable trajectories, with the porting (like done with a Pitbull) you will be able to use up to 155gr well.

I had the Bulldog, an early version. A friend of mine got a later version, which is more accurate and has the actual 200fpe as advertised. It is definitely the best "for the money" bigbore out there. My Ataman .357 is more accurate, but does not have that kind of power and is twice as expensive. It can shoot light 74gr slugs, but jsb's shoot better.

5 fast magazine fed shots at 200 fpe or more? Not that I can think of at any price outside of private machinists.

The ONLY thing I can think of that even comes close to what you want is a RAW .357 which is set at factory to spit 16 shots of 81 grain Diabolo JSB pellets at 130 fee consistently, regulated. It CAN be set for up to 160 fpe with those pellets and less shots. You can have an actual non choked barrel machined to drop in and have the rifle configured to shoot heavier slugs at maximum power for only 5 shots. Barrel would be long for this though.

You are asking for a lot in 200+ fee, 5 shots, magazine fed, short enough in thick bush to even utilize. In short, NO, it does not exist. Some of the examples given above may come close to what you are after, but they don't hit on all desires.

Good thing you didn't try with the Gamo Urban. I shot a groundhog at 32 yards with a Rainstorm regulated at 30ftlbs and saw a pellet miss the ear, ride under the skin of the skull and end up right above other ear on opposite side hit. That was a soft lead JSB 18.1. Angles, power, lead hardness, hardness of target area. Possibly, a faster, harder CPHP would have penetrated. Maybe not. I definitely would NOT want to shoot at any pigs with a underpowered air gun, no tree to be in/climb, no dogs, no big Bowie or fixed fighter style good dagger/stabbing blade.

Forget ethics for a minute, (not that they should be forgotten) but your own safety of enraging a boar or sow with piglets. Most men think a 9mm at near 300 fee is under powered for DRT dropping power of an animal that is no where near as dangerous as a wild pig in this scenario. The reasoning is yes, man is most dangerous because we are somewhat smart. Pig is MORE dangerous due to not being afraid of your gun, not knowing anything but charge/attack.

IF you're interested in the .357 RAW at 16 (2+ magazines) regulated 130 fpe shots, or about 5-6 at 160 fpe or more, the price is $2000-$2500.00

Alan Zasadny is a great machinist air gun tuner who could make you what you want out of any older Rapid or new RAW and a good shorter big bore barrel. What you want would need to have a lot of air and since you don't want a long barrel in thick brush, it can't be optimized. This leads me to consider someone who could fully alter a KRAL air gun that uses 2 tanks. Imagine (2) 500cc 4500 psi Carbon Fiber tanks. One in front like old Rapids & one in back like Air Force. KRAL did this. I fully believe AZ could get you at least 5 shots at 200 or more fpe.

The only other thing even coming out (maybe) is The Umarex Hammer. 3 shots at 700 ft lbs in .50 caliber for around $800.00 but it isn't available yet as far as I know.
