Yes Reflex moderators do help.
If you ever want to upgrade you should be able to break the glue by using a heat gun or blow torch (carefully).

What caliber? I have heard from others here that it matters. The higher the cal the more noise.

Well IMHO... I have a Daystate reflex moderator and although it's (carbon)looks are awesome, the noise suppression on a FAC airgun (over 12ftlbs of energy) is a complete and utter waste of money. (I also have multiple Huggets, Weihrauchs and a Diana moderator so I have some comparison material)
I specifically bought the Daystate reflex to put on my .22 FAC Compatto, as it looks more badass than the Weihrauch I had fitted before (and reduces the total length of the gun as well). And...I put the HW back on right away! (got the Daystate secondhand so no redfund...)
It might work fine on a sub 12ftlb-er, but doesn't do very much (if anything) at all in the silencing department, so to answer your question about backyard friendliness of a reflex on a Compatto (Bantam being in essence the same gun, albeit with a bottle) ...no totally not friendly at all. In fact very unfriendly. I would even go so far as to qualify it as downright hostile!

A bog standard Weihrauch is very, very hard to beat for sound moderation. Reflex mods look badass but, IME, do not perform well.

The daystate mod on my huntsman regal is definitely not very effective. I recently purchased and installed a donnyfl sumo. The sumo makes the rifle extremely quiet ! I think the daystate moderators are designed for sub 12 fpe rifles.
