Do you clean your pallets?!!!mmmm!! Good question!!!no.🤔

Yes I do clean my pellets. I have a small ultrasonic cleaner which I use and wash a tin at a time. Does it help? Don’t know, but it does dislodge small pieces of lead from poorly swaged pellets that may have looked ok on inspection. These bits may otherwise break off / dislodge when firing and could be one of the causes of ‘flyers’. Because I sort my pellets by weight, they get a visual inspection as well before weighing. Damaged ones then go into the 2nds pile for plinking, or chrony speed hammer spring adj etc (anything but when I’m after accuracy. I also then lube them with Pledge lemon and they smell sexy.

It was one I bought on eBay. Not a super cheapy, but the smallest model of their line. Quite inexpensive. Wife loves it for cleaning her jewellery. Bear in mind this is in Australia. It is rated at 35 watts, 240 volts and I run it for 5 minutes with a little detergent, then rinse out and wash again for 2 minutes in clean water before drying, lubing, weighing & sorting. Word of warning. Do NOT stick your fingers in while it’s running as it will destroy bone marrow. The more powerful the more the damage it will do to your body.

Brand name/model, or link?

That marrow destruction sounds disturbing ...

Sorry I didn’t include the details. I just figured that being ebay, it’s the kind of here now gone tomorrow products.

So from the data plate it says Designed by Skymen Cleaning Equipment Shenzhen Co Ltd. Model no JP-008.

Dont worry about the bone marrow damage. Just turn the bloody thing off before dipping your fingers. When you think about it, it is safer than boiling water. You can take a pot of boiling water off the heat source, stick you fingers in and it will still cook them. Just treat it with the respect it deserves. BTW, my dad used a much more powerful machine at home with his business when I was a kid, so I was given the warning long ago, with a machine that punched out a whole lot more power than this.

Lets face it, the very lead pellets that we are using are dangerous if we don’t wash our hands, or not pay attention to where the muzzle is pointing.

Hope this helps

Dave

I do wash some in white gas/naphtha/Coleman stove fuel. I roll them around while in the repurposed pickle jar of gas, which loosens any lead bits that could cause lead fouling and accuracy issues later on. I then pour the gas into another repurposed jar to be used again. I then lay them out on whatever so the gas will evaporate off. Cleaning will also remove any foreign/unknown lubes so I can lube them with known lube. I can also add two-cycle oil to the gas and so when the gas evaporates it will leave a thin coat of that lube. You would be surprised at how much lead bits are left in the jar. It was an eye opener for me when first cleaning pellets and slugs this way.

Keep in mind that ultrasonics COULD damage if you leave them in too long. How long is too long? No idea. Frankly I don’t think ultrasonics is needed. I use acetone. I think you need to be careful using that stuff ( well ventilated) but it’s fast. I put my pellets in a stainer . Baptize them in acetone three times . Let them dry. Toss a little silicons holly water on them. The devil might be in the details and we might be kidding ourselves. Like going to church. Seems like a good idea. I’m surprised how much crud does come off of them.
I think sorting by weight helps a little too but this is all based on faith not fact. ( hey it’s Sunday) Hope no one takes offense

I like that idea of the two cycle oil. Might work in acetone as well .

I think it’s all about knowledge and preferences (to me) I want to be able to hit a target a different distances and if all this is going to help why not! I already spend some much money on a better rifle, scope and all kind of attachments minus well get it right and get the satisfaction when you are leaving the shooting range or when are done hunting , not be all frustrated and disappointed , like a said this is me. Be safe

I don't see anything wrong with talking about our creator on any day myself. On the 2-cycle oil, it's very quick, and all projectiles get lubed evenly. Some like a 1:32 ratio while I prefer a 1:10 ratio. You can adjust by adding in more fuel or oil to your preference, but let them fully dry first to test. I don't know about acetone, but full synthetic mixes well with Naphtha.
