Do slugs damage pellet liners/barrels

I thought the 39X's were made out of brass... YO!

Same applies .. Brass is harder than lead ... with a big PLUS ... the lubricity between lead and brass / bronze in better than lead on steel.

Really was a silly question to ask ... one only need look up the subject of barrels of steel or brass being shot out using non gilded LEAD bullets at sub sonic velocities in an air gun ? There is none !!

Umm, that's a bit cold. Maybe he is a kid and has no experience in the field at all? What is obvious to you may not be obvious to him.

I was only being technical brass vs steel that's all... Any chance you related to Timmymac? YO!

If that's your attempt to state those of us with real world experience in such matters are rather Non Politically Correct when having to deal with those ignorant who speak of knowing what there talking about when often they don't .. yea related.

The more you know the worse it gets to share anything technical on forums ... any forums on any subject. Pick any forum and if you hang around long enough you will find those educators and folks who truly know of the subjects in which they speak slowly but surly STOP posting and contributing.

This among others is a reason behind that happening ...

Thanks to all for your feedback; I did ask for responses from those that actually "know" the answer.

I am not young but I am ignorant to the subject thus the "silly" question, and I am thick skinned so seemingly offensive replies roll off my back.

Not knowing the physics of the effect on the barrels I started my search here and not the web since I respect the pool of knowledge specific to my question.

It's obvious that lead is softer than steel, but my concern was that over time the choke would stretch. OK, that may appear to be a dumb concern from someone who knows otherwise, but a concern from someone who had no clue. This is why I asked the question.

Thanks again, this opens up possibilities.

Well, lets get back to the ? Thx Felix for that ?( Do slugs damage pellet Liners/barrels.) I'd like some insight into that topic as well. Barrels I have no concerns BUT. Damage a slug may possiby do to MY pellet liner? Has always popped into my head when I see ( by vid or picture only ) of an FX pellet liner. ( I have not IN REAL LIFE ever personally held, looked upon, held , felt or smelled held nor examined in any way held, watered or fed and HELD! an FX pellet liner )lol, considering how light and delicate they look. Can they handle the force of a 22 cal, 20 grain slug with an FPS between 900 and 1000fps,,,repeatedly? I suppose those figures to the minimum energies required (based on statements of others more UP on this than I) to accurately use what is becoming a very popular type of ammo.

I can understand the concern, since the FX liners are thinner, than most barrels, and are squeezing the slugs at the choke. The squeezed lead has to go somewhere. If the slug is not hollow, it will probably give allot of pressure on the liner walls, and may in theory be able to press the rifling outwards. But that is a theory, not a fact. I would guess if someone had managed to destroy a liner by shooting slugs, we would hear about it, as there probably is many thousand owners of FX guns.

Exactly, hence my question. Slugs are relatively new to the scene, therefore time (chronic exposure) has not had it's run. I could not find any information on the matter and again, thank the knowledged for their input.
