DIY Weapon and Equipment Case

I've shipped stocks, and whole guns. I bought a sheet of foam insulation.(blue stuff) 2 inch thickness, squared it off slightly larger than your object. I traced the stock, or gun. Then I cut out the outline using a scroll saw. It's very exact, it also an be done with a cheapo harbor freight jig saw, an electric knife, or totally manual slicing with a sharp knife. Take a card board box, and cut a protective cover, top and botton. I then used some1/8" luan. ply (optional). A couple of strips of duck tape. then I wrapped with brown paper. It does not add much weight, and the item is very secure.

I have done a bit of work with Hotwire knives & tools. They cut through styrofoam like butter. I've packed and shipped a few airguns this way and it seems to work really well. If you plan on using it a lot I think durability would be an issue. But if you're worried about shipping something this is a pretty good way to go.

Sorry I don't have any pics of the airguns I packed using this method. But here is a terrarium I built for my brother. As you can see, with the correct tools you can pretty much cut any shape you like.
