DIY Fully Automatic BB Machine Gun.

My (biological) brother told me about pdfdrive.com today. As I was looking through the free books on the site, I stumbled across these DIY plans for making a fully automatic BB machine gun.

I didn't have anything to do with this, I've not done it myself, so please don't try to hold me responsible or execute me for anything having to do with this; but if it gets your creative juices flowing, be safe, and may God help you!

BTW, there are some really good books on the site. I found almost half the books on my Amazon.com wish list there.

I guess you're right. I never paid much attention to the airsoft / BB gun market. Still, I think I'd rather make my own than buy a toy-like look-alike. And yes, I'm real bored.

If I was to do this, I'd do a much more sophisticated and handy design than this one, with Fortner quick disconnects, a decent trigger, in a bull-pup configuration.

Thanks for sharing, though.

I think it's interesting how some of this stuff works, or can be made to work.

I think a better way to do this is to have the bulk of the air flow enter the breech of the barrel behind the BB, and bleed off a smaller amount of air to feed the BB's. That'd give it greater velocity and slow down the rate of fire to something much more reasonable. JMO

Maybe put an adjustable valve on the BB feed line to allow you to adjust the rate of fire and velocity, and for tweaking. It'd actually be pretty easy.

I think this air driven (literally) tube fed magazine system would work, and might actually be a pretty good idea. I just don't think that should be the main propulsion for the BB's leaving the barrel. It results in an exorbitant rate of fire.

He says it shoots 150+ BB's / Second. Thats 9,000 BB's / Minute!

The average machine gun and submachine gun of WWII fired 450 - 550 RPM. The Deutsch MG34 and MG42's fired much faster than that, but they were the exception rather than the rule, and they were nowhere near 9,000 RPM. They were more like 1,200 RPM, if I remember correctly.

He's provided us with a decent foundation to work with here. If I could come up with a way to make this for $30 or less, plus misc. extra junk we have laying around here unused, I might like to give it a try. But I wouldn't want to spend more than that. I've spent way too much money on air gun paraphernalia as it is. (Sound familiar?)

A person *has* to set limits for himself.
