    Hello guys,
Can we use the same formula: (target size in yards * 1000) / the number of mils on 7x power? My max power is 9x, but since my scope is nothing special and has no AO, I have to use it on 7x. I just wonder if the same formula can be employed.

Thank you. Have a wonderful day.

Only if its a first focal plane scope. Otherwise range estimation has to be done in 10x true mildot or even better 20x half mildot.

Does that mean we can’t estimate the range on 7x power? Mine’s true in 9x.

I take these issues with a grain of salt. Although both of my Leapers scope appear correct at 10X, my Stogers isn’t at any round power setting. So, I cheated!

I got out my yard stick, placed it at various ranges, varied the power, and wrote down the data. I added that info to the range card taped to my stock. Sure beat guesstimation!

Yes, I might have to do the same thing, Alan. :) Thank you both, guys.

What brand scope, model, exact name of reticle, and what power is the scope calibrated to?
