Dishonest gun people?

the way to solve this problem is that the buyer needs to send PAYPAL -- money orders , cashier checks , personal checks , bottle caps , trading stamps ARE ALL RISKY - if you send any of those payment methods , and the seller rips you off , you are left , in all practicality , with ZERO OPTIONS / other than a car trip with some muscle and payback in mind -- if sellers do not want to accept paypal , the buyer IS TAKING A RISK - there is no other way to look at it --

"T3PRanch"You obviously have not had some of the "joys" of dealing with PayPal over issues. If the seller provides a tracking number and if that number shows delivered even if the box contained a "brick" rather that described goods PayPal takes the sellers side! :(

As a business, we sold THOUSANDS of battery packs for radio controlled cars and well more than 50% of those sales were paid for via PayPal. So I can say with absolute certainty, the seller does not slide. PayPal definitely favors the customer when resolving disputes. More than once we had a customer receive a brand new battery pack, use that pack, then make a claim with PayPal where they stated the battery pack was used when they received it or it was not as described. Sadly we lost the claim and others like it. We became very disgusted by this. In fact I used to read posts on radio control forums where people would suggest to others to purchase an item via PayPal, then return the item after using it (abusing it) and make a claim the item was not as described or some other excuse.

Willie posted a thread recently in which a "fake" USPS money order was received. We now live in a country that has abandoned the core values of Christianity it was founded upon (Honesty and Integrity) and that alone will lead to worse and worse conditions as each generation falls farther from the tree so to speak. Russia, the Ukraine and surrounding areas found this out the hard way and now Bibles are part of their school curriculum!

after looking at all these replies , the common denominator is that bad guys will try to take advantage of situations where money [ in any form ] is involved -- if you really want to cover all bases and be safe in all transactions in todays society , you must realize that there are bad guys that have varying degrees of skill at their " art form " , as for example , the bad guy seller who ships a brick or tire iron instead of an airgun . so , to be safe as a buyer or seller , it has become necessary to document all transactions -- i.e. when boxing up a sold rifle or unboxing a bought rifle , the best way to document would be to film / take pictures as you box or unbox - yeah , I know it's a pain in the rectum to do so , but who would think it would ever come to taking your life in your hands by going to a movie , attending school , running a marathon , or attending a music concert ??? it is the way of life NOW IN THE PRESENT , and appropriate counter measures are required to combat bad guys , whether it be terrorists or scammers -- for me , paypal is the best method - backed up with film documentation - if anyone has any better ideas that will cover all the bases , please post it - BTW - people have been bringing back items to brick and mortar stores under false pretense to receive illegitimate refunds for MANY , MANY YEARS - this is not a new trick - just a new spin on an age old scam - I will continue to use paypal / I realize that they do not want to get involved in firearm transaction and I can see their point - imagine a paypal transaction where some 17 year old kid buys an AK-47 through paypal and then decides to shoot up his high school -- does paypal have any liability in that mess by making it possible for the kid to obtain the weapon ??? I don't know - sounds like major lawyers and lawsuits to me --- PAYPAL is smart in avoiding those potential disasters - it's their business , and they want to avoid potential liability . if you are going to blame them for not dealing with firearms , well , it's all on you - by the same measure , some restaurants don't serve liquor , or don't stay open past 8:00 pm - their business / their choice
