This has been posted on other forums, but haven’t seen it here. Besides the longer barrel and synthetic stock of the Maximus, there are other differences.
The valves and hole locations are totally different. The Maximus only uses 2 valve retention screws and is only safe to 2000psi no matter what. The hole locations also differ from the disco.
The disco uses 3 retention screws and can be upgraded to allow higher fill pressures.
For those that may have future aspirations of larger caliber builds or higher fill pressures, buy the Discovery, not the Maximus.
The fill assembly used on the Maximus is also weaker than the Discovery and is only rated to 2000psi with a 3 to 1 safety factor.
These changes explain the lower price and also relegate the Maximus to a 2000psi fill. For those that already have a Maximus but may want to upgrade, it will require the disco airtube and valve as well as the fill assembly. I believe those parts will run somewhere around $60 from Crosman.
Also, anyone wanting to upgrade to the marauder trigger on a disco or max, you want the gen1 trigger which is what is used on the Challenger.
I also found a new site that looks to specialize in Crosman/Benjamin stuff that may interest some.
