I just bought the same scope a few weeks ago and did a review on it, that was my first Discovery Optic. I was absolutely blown away with the clarity, resolution at all magnifications, turrets. reticle and overall build quality. I bought it to put on my son's gun and really had a hard time not keeping it for myself after I looked through it. I'm going to try out one of the other models that Charlie sells. Maybe the HD 5-25x50mm FFP? It's been a long time since I was this positively surprised with a scope purchase. So, have you gotten a ETA for your Uragan? Enjoy your new scope!

I am curious how you would describe the overall brightness of your scope’s image compared to other scopes? Would you say it’s similar, dimmer or brighter? I am not talking about image clarity or sharpness, just the brightness of what you see?

The only other scopes I can compare them to because I've owned them are Sidewinder and Athon scopes. I'd say the Discovery are as good as or if not even a little better in glass brightness and clarity. And the reticles are designed specifically for airgun use from the factory.

Thanks for the nice report. I guess I am either way too picky or just may not have won the glass lottery on my HD 5 - 25. It is not even close to being clear at 25x. That said, all other aspects are quite good, especially dealing with Charlie at Airgunopticsplus. I've been using 4200s for many, many years but have other somewhat inexpensive scopes to compare. My Athlons.... Argos 24, and Talos 14 are MUCH more clear, for instance. I do not necessarily expect Swarovfski glass for $250, I just had quite high hopes after reading SO many accounts of clear glass. I keep thinking about trying another but I just don't need another scope I don't like.

So, the question is .... are there others like mine, but no one is speaking up? Or am I just expecting too much?

Bob,

I didn’t win the glass lottery either and I am VERY disappointed in my 4-20x50 Discovery scope. It is VERY dark compared to my el cheap Nikon Prostaff and Bushnell Rimfire scopes. I was hoping for an upgrade in brightness but I didn’t get what I hoped for. Even the sun shade was so bent up it wouldn’t even come close to screwing on the end of the objective.

Thanks Wiseguy. I described my experience with it to him and he made no recommendations or offers other than to point me to the ED 3-15 as being their best glass. I use my scopes for ft, hunting and plinking so really prefer the 24x or higher so not really interested in that one. He was helpful and generally very good to work with so I've not pursued anything further regarding that scope. It seems very well constructed and movements are accurate so it's not a big loss. I mean no negative to your acquisition and am glad it's awesome to you. I'm just somewhat disappointed that the 2nd from the top of their range doesn't seem as clear as people are claiming for ones that are lower in the lineup.

Recently I bought 2 Weaver V24s, a Bushnell 4500 6-24, and a KonusPro F30.... the F30 being the most expensive. The F30 and Discovery HD both share the can't quite get it focused syndrome while ALL my Bushnell's and Weaver's are very clear, lighter, and no more expensive. They are not perfect either, but at least clear, light and dependable. I would be REALLY happy with the F30..... if it would only be clear. Great reticle and the best ranging I've seen plus pretty good adjustment range.

So.... still looking. A friend has a Falcon coming that might be a contender. Just have to wait and see.

Enjoy!

Hi everyone I have a question on DISCOVERY OPTICS ED 3-15X50 SFIR

I was thinking of putting that on my new FX impact Mark II if people think that would be a great fit or something else might be better without breaking the bank or if a different Discovery scope might fit the impact better more of a backyard pesting and paper shooter any input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

That was FX impact Mark II in 25 Cal.

That would be and EXCELLENT choice IMO. Let us know how you like it if you get it!

I like my Discovery scopes. Just bought my 3rd one. Only thing is I like my SFP scopes better so I have a 6-24-44 VT2 and will have a HI 5-20-50 delivered today. Had a 4.5-18 FFP but sold it as I just didn't care for the reticle in it. These other two have the Hawke style half mildot and I really like that reticle. It just works for me. Service from Charlie is top notch too.
