What exactly is the matter with your Discovery scope assuming you didn't try it on a magnum Springer?

Couple of my Disco wheels are also stiff but that sure beats the overly loose Leapers I got in comparison. Mod a UTG side wheel to fit. If your magazine interferes then cut that wheel for clearance. You can also work that side wheel while sitting on the couch watching tv using a leather belt and a vise grip or plier.

Did you try removing the little allen screw in the middle of the knob, carefully pulling off the turret, scraping out any old grease and relubing including the oring with a touch of silicone grease? Sometimes the grease used is a little stiff and maybe in transport hardened up.

The Discovery side focus turret is built with permanent loctite at the factory. If you get a stiff one, send in in for replacement immediately. They will not wear in over time and the entire turret will eventually fall off the side of the scope. Only three 2 mm screws hold the turret on. I never got warranty on mine. They do default to a 10M setting for the parallax, so you can put it on a dedicated 10M rifle instead of throwing it away. Luckily my other Discovery is the FFP version that worked fine out of the box. I doubt I would buy another, even though I like the glass and reticles.

Why on earth would the scope factory put permanent locktite on a side focus wheel that's expected to be constantly adjusted on a regular basis?
