Discovery Scopes

Name something that isn't on """sale""" these days.

Happiness!

Ahhhh so true, but then happiness never has been on sale … but it is easy enough to find. Just watch one of these little ones come down the stairs on Christmas morning, tripping all over themselves, eyes shining, great big smile on their faces, so full of anticipation that the room can hardly contain it. Happiness for me is watching others to whom all this is very new and seeing the world through their eyes. It can only make your heart jump and your cares lighter. As Tiny Tim said, "God bless us, each and everyone!"

I have mixed feelings about Discovery. I still have one mounted on my .22 NPE/NP2, and it has been holding up nicely. I do not know if I would buy another one, but it does have very good glass and holds zero nicely. As far as them being on "sale," I agree with what others stated... what isn't on "sale" these days?

Could/would state what the “mixed” feelings are?

Generalizations are pitfalls ..that's why . Some say bang for the buck, good glass ,worthwhile,I have one and it surprised me how good the glass is..butt it is heavy and has rough edge knobs.....They are say between $100 to $200.....maybe people get them because they do get positive feedback and they work .

After time some people realize that there are better scopes out there for them=intended use,...thus they sell their Discovery Scopes.

Another thing is sometimes the same things seems to be selling at the same time, like FX Wildcats or whatever, right now you may see more Discovery scopes on sell...truth be told it don't mean nothing or is that anything?

Many people are in constant upgrade mode so there is always a shiny new object in their future. The dingy old ones are no longer needed. Others are looking for the perfect item. Since nothing is perfect they pick apart what they have and realize it's not the one. So it gets tossed by the wayside. Still others get what they can afford at the moment. Then they upgrade when they have the means to do so. A few are actually happy with what they have and realize it is way more than what they need.

I saw one of the Discovery scopes on Joe Rhea's channel on airgun101 he said good things about it especially for the money.

Well, one of the scopes I bought, failed when part of the parallax ring came apart from the recoil of my NP2 .22. That was disappointing, but on the flip-side, I received very prompt and expeditious customer service and I feel like I was made whole from that particular situation.

The other part of me pumps the brakes on buying another one, only because of rumblings (some of them have been voiced on this forum) of possible patent infringement on SWFA. I do not know the specifics of the particulars of it all are. I do not feel the need to remove a perfectly-good working scope from my air rifle, but I for that reason I am pausing on purchasing more of them until more sense comes to light one way or another on their business practices.

I bought a Discovery scope on my Liberty PCP ONCE and it will be my last.

Won't hold zero and it's already degassed(foggy lense). May use it as a target or take it apart out of curiosity.

I will see after I replace it with a Hawke Vantage.

So I will stick to Hawk scopes for tried and true performance.

Heck even my Center Point on my Crosman XP1000 has done better.

Have you tried a warranty claim on it?

I read much hype about how GREAT these scopes were so I made the mistake of buying it directly from China, AliExpress.

Figured I'd not have an issue with it since it would be on a PCP(kinder & gentler than a piston/springer). Figured wrong.

Shipping it on my $ won't be worth time and hassle.

Live and learn the hard way, don't fall for the hype and stick with what works. Hence I will stick with Hawke.

Have a Hawke Vantage 3x9 - 40 on a PCP that I'm not using so it's a prime volunteer.

Thanks for your input though.
