Disco

I own a 22 cal disco .my question is I was watching a video where this guy cut 2 coils of the hammer spring to increase shot count .will this lower the foot pounds and the FPS.This same guy then put a screw in behind the hammer spring to ajust it for more FPS what will that do to your shot count ? I can cover a 5 shot group at 35 yards with a nickel would like to keep the gun the way it is just more shoot count would be nice.PS I hope someone on here can understand what I'm trying o say . Thanks in advance .Ron

Not sure on .22 numbers as I don't have a stock .22 disco both are heavily modded but on my .177 I installed a short stiff spring and went front 15 shots at 20fpe to 40 shots at 17fpe within 4% es. If you want more power generally you will lose shot count. Lower it a bit and you will gain. Of course adding a short stiff spring or SSG will add to your shot count from eliminating hammer bounce.

Travis at Wicked Air Rifles (aka WAR) sells an SSG for the Marauder, but it's expensive. I think if you call him he has an option for a Disco/Maximus but it isn't listed on the website. The SSG (Stopping Spring Guide) is a method of modifying the stock hammer in the airgun that dramatically reduces hammer bounce and improves efficiency. If you have some tools and time you can do it yourself. I don't have the time, so I bought one from WAR. It doesn't do anything for the power, but it does increase shot count...unless you've tuned for a high speed shot, then there's not much to be done to help with shot count then. I have a stock Maximus in .22. I've done nothing to it but clean the barrel. I get about 20-25 usable shots and it's extremely accurate. My most accurate gun actually.

YoteDairyboy would that be the same as putting a screw in the back of the gun and and adding more spring pressure

Negative I actually got a different spring, thicker cut it shorter than the disco spring so there's zero preload on the spring when it's not cocked and cut it until I got the fps I wanted. Granted in .177 it needs to be detuned for lighter pellets the .22 will need some detuning for extra shot count unless going with an SSG or short stiff spring like I did

"Yote"Ok I'm really confused here .i just watched a video on moods for the disco.this guy claims he cut 2 coils off the stock hammer spring and increased his shot count .how much do you think that lowered the FPS. Sorry for my ignorance on PCP
If you cut off a couple coils you will reduce both power and air consumption. That will boost shot could at a lower power level.

The screw on the back adjusts spring tension, and therefore power.

If you want more shots per fill, clip off two coils and you should be good. Generally, the power loss is modest.
