***********UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF THIS POST******************

Im not usually one to bash anyone but I think I have every right to be unhappy about the way things have unfolded since I received my Fx Impact on December 4 , 2015. As posted in another thread well over a month ago, the cocking block pin sheared.
http://airgunnation.dev/topic/broke-impact-cocking-lever/
Off to AOA the gun went on December 29th. After waiting for parts from Fx and having the gun completely gone through having all O-rings updated to the current version I finally get my gun back Febuary 2 ,2016
Im thinking ALRIGHT! I take the gun out, shoot a tank fill of air through it, go in to change the barrel out to my 25 cal that I just got in and refill. Well for some reason I removed the bottle before changing the barrel. Well when I screwed the bottle back on the gun started leaking out the transfer port out the barrel. So I tried all the things said online to get it to reseal nothing worked. I finally realized the valve rod was stuck forward it some how was stuck where the valve adjustment rod knob is located. I unscrewed that and gave the rod a little tap and bingo everything started working again. Now I remind you I've had the gun back for 2 hours. So out to the range I go. I shoot about 50 25cal pellets through my new barrel go in to refill the tank and as soon as I put air on the gun bam air starts leaking out the reg. Now I'm pretty disgusted with the whole situation. I call AOA back up they send me a return postage for Ups and I send the gun back to them on the 5th of Febuary it's now the 18th they say the gun is fixed and ready to come back so I asked if they could 2nd day it if I pay for the shipping, that way I can have it by Saturday. They say sure they even check to make sure I can get Saturday delivery. So I get an email from UPS a little while ago and guess what it won't be here till Monday. I guess it shouldn't surprise me.

********************UPDATE********************
March 11 2016

Just wanted to post an update on how things have unfolded since I received my Impact back on Monday Feb 22. I didn't have a lot of time durning the week to shoot the rifle so I waited till Saturday
The 27th to rezero and get some pratice in. The gun came back shooting better than ever. I shot around 200 rounds through it on Saturday and was ready to take it out and do a little hunting on Sunday. Well Sunday rolls around and I take it out get a couple mags through it and without warning the gun stops cocking. No matter what I do I can't get it to cock. The only way for it to stay cocked is put the safety on but as soon as I take the safety off the gun would fire. I watched Ernest's video on adjusting the trigger but no dice. I originally purchased the gun from Jim at precision so we gave him a call and told him that I wanted an new rifle. He apologized for the problems we were having and said he would check and see what he could do and give us a call back. In less than an hour he called back and said send it back to AOA and they will send you a new one out. So back to AOA the gun goes on Monday the 1st of March. I just received a tracking number from AOA so the new gun is due here on the 15th. Hope no more problems. I want to say Thank You to Jim at precision and AOA for making things right.

The gun has great potential I'm fairly dissatisfied with the the way it's been handled. AOA has had the gun longer than me. It's pretty hard to swallow when you've got over 2 grand tied up in it. It's pretty easy to make statements that it's a new platform and should be expected when you have nothing invested in it. When a dealer says the gun will be delivered at a certain time and you pay for it. Then come to find out its not doesn't sit well with me.

I don't buy into the theory that it's a new platform and needs tweaking and there are going to be problems at first. These are extremely expensive items and as such should perform as advertised from day one. I've been in this situation where a new airgun has been released and I've bought it on its release date and had to send it back for adjusting. It's wrong, I feel for the guy who bought this rifle as he's been sold an expensive rifle that doesn't work. What other industries get away with such a hit and miss product performance? We are in effect, testing these guns for the manufacturers at our own cost in many cases. Get your act together FX, and every other airgun manufacturer for that matter! That is all.....

I'm with you on this one. Problems like this are nothing to do with it being a new platform and everything to do with poor quality control processes and poor customer service.

We should be able to expect any air gun to arrive in working order but if you are going to charge someone $1900 you should test each one before sending it out. Any reason offered as to why they can't do this is just an excuse.

This isn't FX's first air gun release. By now they should already know what type of O-rings they will need for an effective seal. They should have already sent AOA a bunch of spare parts to deal with issues quickly too. Waiting until there is an issue before sending parts is always going to cause a delay when you are based 3000+ miles away.

When you have problems like this immediately, you loose all of your enthusiasm and excitement for your new purchase. You start to wonder if this thing is even going to last a year if it can't go an hour without problems now. Plus, we all know that when you get a turkey it is going to have constant problems. It's the same with cars. You never buy one that has been constantly in and out of the shop for repairs.

An air gun that arrives broken should be replaced with a new one. Send the broken one back to FX to deal with. Sending it back without even confirming that it works properly is something else.

The Impact is cool but no air gun is worth this much hassle. It's not like there aren't any other awesome bullpups to choose from.

When I had problems with my Cricket and I wasn't happy with how Precision and AOA handled it, I went to Kalibrgun directly and they helped me immediately. They were surprised that AOA hadn't even informed them about the issue. Maybe try going directly to FX for help. I'm sure they wouldn't want their brand represented like this. They seem to care more than many manufacturers.

You paid for a new air rifle. One that needs repairing before you can use it is a refurbished model at best. At least ask for a discount...

Wow, I'm pretty new to this airgun stuff. I've only dealt with 3 rifles; 1 from Straight Shooters (AA) and 2 from Airguns of Arizona (daystates). All 3 guns have worked flawlessly for me and the dealers have been fabulous.

It seems strange to me the idea that new models should be shied away from because bugginess is expected? The only type of product I think about like that would be a new iPhone. Sometimes the new ones need a patch or two but they come quick and easy. I would expect (before reading some of these threads) the air rifle to be thoroughly ready for sale with every expectation it will work as intended. If it didn't I would expect "Legendary Service" that folks would applaud as the dealer or manufacturer fell all over themselves to make it right.

"EVIL" ???

Not me, just practical. In my 63 yrs. on this earth I've learned a few things the hard way. I've been burned a few times by getting a little to much in a hurry. Everyone wants the latest & greatest, but sometimes your better off to hold back and wait for the dust to settle before jumping in with both feet.
Some manufactures rush out a new product before proper testing, trying to recoup their investment as soon as possible. Someone has to be the first, it just will not be me. Its to bad people have high hopes & excitement only to get disappointed and let down. I'm sure FX will get their act together, they always do.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience but I also don't want the masses on the forum to think that this is the case with all Impacts. I've had two of them (sold off a silver one because I preferred the black version) and neither one of them had any problems. There are plenty of "good" Impacts out there and the folks with the proper functioning rifles aren't likely to make threads/posts to say that their rifle functions as it should. It's just human nature - the unhappy customer is typically the most vocal. Not saying I don't have empathy for the OP - rather just want to point out that I've had a very positive experience with mine and love it (as is the case with many other Impact owners I'm sure).

I am defiantly not saying that the Impact is not a well made rifle I just don't particularly care for how it was serviced and how long it took or (should say)taking. I can speak from experience that we myself, my dad and my uncle all own an impact. We received them within 2 days of each other. Out of the three guns 2 have been sent back mine which you already know about and my dads for leaking. I'm pretty sure we got some of the first batch with the problems. That being said the odds are not really good from where I'm standing if you got some of the first guns. I can't vouch for the ones that came out of the factory after the problems where fixed.

On another note, AOA did call me today and apologize for not getting my gun back to me when promised and refunded my shipping cost. I am happy about that. I still am very excited that my gun will be back Monday. I can't wait to get to punching some paper fingers crossed.

Greetings to all,I am new to the forum a life long firearms enthusiast intruiged by pcp performance I have been doing research for several months now. I was close to making a purchase on an impact, the versatility and compact design had me sold but now I am hesitant. I am looking for a weapon that I can send thousands of rounds down range with maintenance consisting of an occasional cleaning. Are pcp's high maintenance as a general rule or is this the exception?

"amoxom"You should be getting a new gun free of problems. You spent 2k on a gun it better work without an issue. Two trips back with a faulty gun is unacceptable. If it breaks again, it should be 3 strikes, you are out and send me a new gun, or get a refund.
Well you guys basically paid 2000$ to beta test a unfinished gun. It has so many variables for the accuracy/poi but has a ton of potential. I feel like it is the industry standard to sell a unfinished product. Companies want to get their product out there as fast as possible to get profit. My father is the same. We own a hotel business, and he rushed when building the hotel and skimped out on the quality. Instead of hiring a professional plumber to do his plumbing, he did it himself and now the hotel backfires a sewage smell through the drains. Also, he wanted to save money and hurry the build time so he dismissed one of the layers for the roof. Now, it leaks from the ceiling when it rains. The gaming industry is also the same. Many games are released with glitches and bugs that make them unplayable. However, many people are paying full price for them just to spend the majority of their time grinding through the bug fixes.

I just hope this will be last time a product is rushed into production like this. Like at least the foster fitting placement, at least put it in a smarter location before making thousands of them and have people struggle to get their hose off the gun. They need to thoroughly test their product and find all these tiny issues before sending them off. The impact's features is amazing however. It has a decent price point for the features and I think if it released with less well known problems then it would absolutely dominate the market.
  • take down rifle
  • customizable AR stock
  • customizable barrel (.177 for higher shot count, .22 for sweetspot caliber, .25 another sweetspot caliber, .30 for bigger game)
  • removable 500 CC carbon fiber bottle
  • semi bullpup-compact+lighter
  • adjustable power wheel
  • adjustable regulator outside
  • adjustable valve tension
  • built in pica rail for bipod(many Fx guns you have to install yourself :( )
And now they are possibly going to offer non telescopic shrouds! I'd say if they released the FX Impact with the same amount of problems as the release of the wildcat, then I don't see why many people would buy other rifles lol! Sadly, this is not the case and they jumped the gun :(. FX will just need to fix the problems and maybe come out with a Mk2 to sell. I can also see them improving their normal rifle line up, as there are many expensive traditional FX rifles that just plain out don't have the same features as the impact. This is dumb because the impact is cheaper than the traditional rifles.

Now to the poster of this thread, you can do what two impact owner's have done (in the past two months or so). You can sell your Impact for roughly 1900$, which is more than the price for a brand spanking new one. Then take that money and buy a new one or do something else with the money. There is still tons of hype for this gun and a long line so the Impact for sale will be gone within days lol! You'd have to have a fully functional impact if you want to sell for that price however.
