Diopter settings...

It means you are a very sick man and nobody likes you! ;^) No, really I used to have good eyes like you way back when I was 50. Enjoy it while it's there cuz it doesn't last forever that's what the adjustable diopter/ocular bell is all about. It can be adjusted for us old folks so we don't need our glasses to see the reticle clearly which is a very nice thing.

One's eye sight isn't totally dependent on one's age. I turn 80 this month, and I have 20-10 in my left eye, and 20-15 in my right (at distance), and NO(!) cataracts! But... I use cheaters to read, and they're 2.25 diopters. Hence I do have to adjust my scopes accordingly.

There is another issue you might want to ask your ophthalmologist about. Most eyeglasses do not have full correction in the upper left quadrant (upper right if you're a left-hand shooter). However, glasses can be made special order which have full correction, or special correction, in almost any quadrant of the lens. If you shoot a lot, it may be worth the expense to have special hunting glasses made to order.

Hey Dillon,

Just appreciate the fact that you don't know what a Diopter is for yet. That's why you can use that fixed 10 SWFA I sold you out to 500 yards..LOL When my close-up started going away I was really pissed off trying to shoot my pistols.....Then a few years ago I got into PCP's and started using scopes under 100 yds instead of PB's out to 500. My point here is the important thing to test for is parallax. I was using a very expensive scope yesterday at 35 yards with what I thought was a perfect diopter adjustment and the focus knob at 35.....I found 1/4" of parallax at that distance.....I adjusted out the parallax but the reticle isn't perfect anymore...Aging eyes can deceive and it varies with me sometimes at different distances...

ALWAYS CHECK PARALLAX !!
