Diggin' my Weihrauch HW44 .177 pistol!

I finally found the ideal platform for hunting small game in my area. I live in SoCal where it is mostly scrub desert. There are plenty of rabbits and doves, along with a smattering of varmints. My Weihrauch is good for any small game out to 50 yards; balls-on accurate, and quiet as a mouse... well, you know :)! The .177 provides a flat enough trajectory to where I don't even need to apply hold-offs. And the pistol format is ideal for carry and quick deployment. I'm actually baggin' more game than I did with my Daystate Pulsars, FX Impact, and RAW .357! Also, I no longer need my compressor or tank; my Hill hand-pump is just fine. I'm a true believer.

I put a Burris 2-7 pistol scope on mine and have to admit any misses are my fault. I use a two hand hold and keep the support hands first finger or two in front of the trigger guard and up near the picatinny rail. For me it's me it's better support than the traditional off hand surrounding the strong hand with all fingers under the trigger guard.

leadfoot, I put an AIM 2-7x pistol scope on mine (I keep it at 7x) along with a scope level. I no longer use a shooting stick. I also use a two-hand grip. I place the Picatinny rail on the palm of my non-trigger hand with that elbow braced against my ribs. This gives me ideal eye relief. I'm getting pretty good at maintaining a stable platform for an aimed squeezed shot. My new system eliminates all the awkward, time-consuming steps involved with long-range (for airguns) shots with a rifle. My field trips are much more enjoyable and productive now.

The red dot didn’t stay on the HW44 very long. It’s just so much fun to be able to see the pellets impact the target when using a scope. And I’ve used it with great success on chipmunks and sparrows. Out to 50 yards it’s hard to miss! And off of two bags it’s really quite amazing...half inch at 60 yards if you do your part, and it’s not windy!

I hope I'm not redirecting this thread, but I just googled the 2.5X- 25X March scope. At first this sounded like a fantasy. Not that I wanted to buy one, but I went to their site and sure enough there it was. Every type of scope was sold out but the descriptions were unbelievable. 2.5X - 25X, really? focus down to 10 yards??? 100 MOA of adjustment????? The only thing left out was automatic wind and elevation adjustments. Of course they have illuminated reticle on most models!!!

Anyways, the HW44 is a standout. AnimalHitman do you use a rifle scope? I never tried that but I could see where you could get a solid lock on a target with that technique. Mine is also a .177 and use the JSB 8.4gr with very good results.
