Difference between pistol and rifle wadcutter [target] pellets?

I would wager that the wadcutter pellet design works best at a given velocity Since pistols shoot slower, it would make sense to use a lighter pellet to achieve an optimum velocity for accuracy. Rifles, of course, can handle a heavier pellet to do the same thing. The goal here is to make holes in the 10 ring of a 10 Meter target in the same place each time. Any distance beyond 15 or 20 meters, you had better be looking at domed pellets, because wadcutters don't shoot consistently beyond that distance.
