Did the EC-3000 Compressor by Hill just increase by $200+?

Maybe it increased due to supply and demand

. Kinda crappy on pyramydair.com to increase the price.

I don’t think it is a matter of supply/demand. I saw them come in and go out of stock several times during the pandemic. I purchased two when I noticed that they were back in stock. Those were priced at $999.99. I think it is more that they may of underpriced it from the beginning due to unforeseen things such as warranty claims, etc.

It may not fill a medium+ scuba bottle, or be water cooled, or oil bathed, but it’s quality that is not made where all things disposable come from.

The Euro exchange rate is currently unfavorable to the dollar. It had gotten as low as $1.05 a couple of years ago but is $1.22 now. It makes imports expensive and exports cheaper.

Nobody was a bigger Hill EC-3000 booster than I was even though $999 was a little bit high for what the Hill was competing against. Now that it’s $1200 my endorsement is no longer applicable. Sorry, Hill and Pyramyd. You are pricing yourself out of the marketplace.

So true Humdinger, and I've followed your posts on your overall thoughts on the Hill and other compressors over the course of time too. Part of me wishes I had bought the Hill when it was $1k, but the $1200 price tag is a real turn off considering the competition.

These small HPA PCP compressors are appealing at their price points for the most part .... My problem with them is that none of them offers service manuals, parts lists/diagrams or spare parts or rebuild kits ..... IMO that is an indicator that the manufacturer considers these as throwaway items that they hope will last a day past their warranties if any. I love the look and appeal of the Hill EC-3000 but until I am convinced that the manufacturer intends for this to be a long term item with available service resources I think my money would be better spent on proven reliable brands like Bauer IMO.

I would also add Alkin and Coltri to the list of top quality, dependable compressor manufacturers.

I think they should have dropped the price, I have not been too happy with mine, have gone through 2 of them in a little over 12 weeks, first one didn't make it through an hour of run time before pissing air out of the cylinder head, returned it to pyramyd air, waited 2 more weeks for it to come back in stock, the second one arrived in mid Nov, and the exact same thing happened just this past Sunday with just over an hour of run time, I actually just got my RMA # yesterday, drained the fluids last night and boxed it up for return today, I can say the crankcase oil was red when it first started to drain then turned into a grey sludge by the end, not sure if I will try one more replacement or try something else, just can't swing anything in the $3K range.... we'll see
