Diana RWS Model 34

Hello I'm new to this forum, but have been shooting air rifles for over 45 years. It started with the classic crosman pump bb/.177 rifle.

I bought a Benjamin that was stolen from my house in 1987.

With the insurance money I purchased a RWS Diana Model 34. Into the mid 1990's I went shooting often. I got Bushnell 3-9x32 scope. It was very accurate.

For approx 24 years the rifle sat in it's case under my bed.

In February 2019, I pulled it out. Cleaned it up, cleaned & oil as per RWS specs. I started shooting at target in my bedroom. About 10 yards. I bought some different kinds of pellets:

Beeman Pointed

RWS Superdome

Crosman Hollow Point "most Accurate"

H&N Barracuda

Gamo Red Fire

Gamo PBA Raptor.

I had been reading about "Adjustable objective" so I decided to get a new scope.

I bought a new scope: UTG 3-9x40 True Hunter Scope. It is amazing.

The main point I wanted to get across is the: Quality, Reliability, Craftsmanship, Performance, that this rifle was built with. It's as strong today as the day I bought it.

10 Yards.

....i too began on american pumper type airgun....when i was 14, i sacked groceries that summer to save up for a .177 rws diana model 36 - $129 shipped from cabelas in 1984-5......... after hearing the pellet ricochete off the gravel on the ground around my target, which sounded like a .22 lr , i was hooked. i did take about 1500 pellets to break that gun in, and it was a love / hate relationship thru that - but it was well worth it.....i came into this on dianawerk and i've been content to always have a diana or two even today.. the walmart crosman premier hollow points do work well in the barrels of the older model 34's, but you might try h&n ftt pellets for a bit better groups.....should be a cloverleaf at ten yards - or even stack pellets that close. you'll probably be better off with a new piston seal and maybe a newer mainspring if you notice the power is lower nowadays or if it shoots harshly. hey , check this newer diana combo out ,on sale : https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/spring-piston/diana-model-430l-combo-.177/ take care. - paul.

Any of the Diana 34 .22 owners give me some advice on the best pellets to try in my new unit? I just don't want to end up buying a dozen different style of pellets. So I thought if I could get the top five styles and weights from more experienced shooters of the Diana 34 i could save some money and time. I already have H&N Hades, JSB Jumbo Heavy's, Grossman HP.

I have the .22cal model. Haven't tried a wide range of pellets but two so far come to mind. The RWS Superdomes perform fairly well. I think the JSB 14.66 gr with the 5.54mm head do a little better. Haven't found any lead free alloy pellets that shoot accurately.

Thanks for the great info on your Diana 34, Looks excellent!!! I have a Newer Diana 34P Panther, with the T06 Trigger, Love it, Light weight easy to Cock, a pleasure to shoot. I also have a 350P Panther, that one is Heavier and Longer, (It is a Beast), putting some of it weight out further. Where as the 34 is Very Balanced, most of it weight is closer in to your body. Love the quality of Diana Break barrel Rifles.

Dwayne, a sad fact is that if Pellet 'A' works best in my 'B' rifle, your 'B' rifle may absolutely loathe it. If you're looking for best accuracy, you gotta test a bunch. The H&N FTT in .22 works best in mine, but it might not in yours. To me, finding the best pellet is all part of the challenge and fun. Expensive...well, yeah, but not so much in comparison with my former hobby...restoring old automobiles and trucks...It's all relative, I reckon.

If someone has mentioned Crosman Pointed Hunting pellets, forgive me, but those are the preffered pellet of my TO5 Panther in .22

I think for an under 20 fpe springer these pellets are great, as long as your gun shoots them well of course, but they will usually end up under

the hide on the opposite side of entry on say a fox squirrel, but will really do a number on a head shot -
