I resorted to the Diana Bullseye mount on my 45 and 52 as they ate many scopes for breakfast. I did not have any failures after I installed the mount. So this werqed for me.

in my case red dots arnt much better than irons .. really limits my distance, im deadly out to about 15 yards lol ... scopes can vary quite a bit and surprisingly 'not' by price point in how well they work with my eyes .. just depends mostly on how much allowance the manufacturer built into the eyepiece adjustment, i wouldnt beat up a nice scope on a springer myself anyway .. but yeah, either find a scope that will work with your eyes and survive the torture or maybe go to the eye place with your favorite scope and get some special glasses dialed right into that baby lol ... thats a good idea actually glad you thought of it ..

Go with a Leupold scope and your problems are over !! Expensive YES, but you will never need to buy another. I have a couple that are 25 and 30 years old, never a problem, these have been on RWS model 48, HW 80, HW97 and my TX200. They have been used for hunting and FT cimpetition. Turrets have been clicked for various distances and about everything you can think of that is hard on a scope, and they never failed. If there is a problem, warranty work is free and returned within 10 days. Why would you want anything else???

This. I can also attest to vortex. My d48 has had a vortex atop it for THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of rounds and still holds zero. Plus, with the warranties on Leupold and vortex there's nothing to fear...

The 48 is used for the 54.

It is an incredible action in sidelever. 

That is why the 54 offers recoilless endeavor to get your groups tight. Recoil is always a trick to "handle" in springers to ensure consistent grouping and accuracy.

Remove the recoil and then you are free from many complications.

Whether 48 or 54 the rifle WILL destroy scopes unless the scope is mounted in a Zero Recoil Mount and Rings fitting the scope you want.

After the recoilless rifle D54 get the Zero Recoil Mounts to make the system capable of accuracy well beyond normal springers.

The one Diamondback I had an issue with was atop my sig asp20. The reticle broke, but vortex replaced it with a new one no questions asked, and they said their autopsy indicated I had actually crushed the tube overtightening my mounts. It still lasted I think over 6,000 rounds before it broke. Ended up with a brand spanking new replacement free of charge. The one on my diana 48 is still going strong and holding zero perfectly and tracks flawlessly (well over 6,000 rounds on that one). 

I have the Diamondback Vortex on my HW80 .20 Left Hand (a mistake by AOA to me but I felt the rifle was too good to send back). Besides, the serial number is 1871953 (way old but out of the box with the older HW linkages) and it IS in a Diana Zero Recoil Mount suffering no damage or change of impact since I put it on this rifle.

This is an HW80 Left Hand, I am Right Hand with rifles, but when I shot it I felt already bonded to it.

A left hander wanted to see if I would trade my Left Hand model HW80 .20 with his Right Hand HW80 .20 and I actually declined.

I already had bonded with the rifle.

I have bonded with every air rifle in my inventory offhand for their consistency in every season and year and decade or two of owning them.

I never altered any of these fine rifles with vortexing or customizing or tuning unless spending $1800 on a D54 .20 custom.

I went MY way with my rifles and no rifle is a disappointment.

These rifles all are from England (Theoben, Falcon, Daystate) or Germany (D54, HW) and no rifle produced today can match them in my specific needs for each.

The rifles today built with quality will only go up in price while the others use less pure metals and workmanship to build a Walmart Air Rifle.

It's my opinion at this time.

Skilled labor and fine metal put together is rather expensive now!

It wasn't so bad 20 years ago or more.

Hmmm I had one that was tuned by John in PA that knocked a squirrel out of a tree at 78 yards. That was an exceptional shot and that gum liked Walmart pellets...

i have been having terrible luck getting my scope to stay dialed on my diana 48 in 22cal with its huge recoil. i had quality rings and so i thought a decent scope. i gave up and installed a red dot to see if it will hold true. fingers crossed. i cant use my irons anymore as my eyes kinda suck now. i have a hw97k in 177 scoped that works a treat. anyone use red dots on powerful springers?

How old is your gun?? Takes at least a thousand rounds before it smooths out any. The older the smoother with springers!!
