Diana 350 N-TEC Premium in .22 Cal.

Just came today. Shot it a few times then managed to lose the site post insert from the front Globe sight. %^/ I should probably put a scope on it but I wanted to try the Williams and straight front post. Should keep me interested up unto the moment I throw my hands in the air and put on the scope.

Shooting without the post I was getting pretty good consistency. It will take me some time to figure her out. The cocking effort is said to be 55 lbs. I didn't find it that hard. Not necessary to use two hands but this does make it easier. The Beach wood is not bad at all. Some figure. Not over stained. Checkering is nice. Weight is a LOT less than the AA TX 200.

I'm smelling some burnt oil but don't think its actually dieseling. AoA says its shooting around 840 fps with 16 grain pellets. I'll dig out my chrono once its broken in. I like the feel of the gun. Hand holding should be no problem. It's long at 48 inches but has a very elegant look with all that barrel. 19 inches and you need it for cocking. The cocking mech appears very robust and solid.

Sound level is about the same as the TX although a bit different in type. Not back yard friendly. About half the noise level of a 22 long rifle firearm.

The blueing is very nice. Deep, polished. Overall fit and finish is excellent.

The trigger guard is plastic but you can't tell unless you do the 'teeth' test. The trigger itself comes from the factory adjusted just right for me. No real 1st stage.

(Edit: It does have a first stage. Didn't really seem lit it when brand new but now has a definite two stage trigger )

The tiniest bit ( now significant, not tiny ) of take up with a crisp break around 1 1/2 lbs. I like it. The blade is far from flat but has a large radius which is very comfortable and efficient.

I'm mostly a pest shooter and the gun has plenty of power for that. Puts pellets through 3/4 soft wood no problem. Further penetration tests will follow.

Addendum to my report: It's been educational for me dealing with my lost sight insert. Spent a bunch of time searching for inserts and even a new globe sight altogether as this one is an odd size ( smaller ) nobody but Umarex uses. Looks like I've scored inserts from Umarex and they were very helpful. AoA gave me the number and I got right to a very helpful guy who is sending me inserts.

However after all this research I would really like to put a new sight on the front. So I can readily buy inserts for experimentation. I may have found one from bjonessights. Bob Jones in AZ. What a nice guy.

I went round and round with Champions Choice but they did not believe anything they had would clamp to the 350 N TEC front dovetail.

AoA has nothing in stock as they are newish with Diana ( Umarex ). They eventually will have parts they believe.

Let me know the diameter of the insert and what style you prefer (post, aperture, post-dot, crosshair etc) and I'll see if I can scrounge you a new front insert no charge. Take a close-up pic of the front sight so I can see how it mounts. Might could set you up with a globe sight if your muzzle is grooved for a Diana or HW type sight. I have extras as well as a few Anschutz rears I was going to put on ebay. Also if you can take a close up photo of the area of the front sight. I have boxes full of sights so let me know if I can help.

Well the news is not good. :(

Did have the same globe you have, but the inserts in the tin are the wrong size. (too small) belonging to a Lyman 17 I recently sold.
Looks like I sent the Diana inserts with the Lyman, and retained the Lyman inserts.
Trying to get a hold of the buyer (transaction was last February) to see if he'd be interested in swapping.

Long story short I don't have what you need.

I apologize.

That's cool. Thanks for trying. I have options. I'll get there.

Surprised myself. Couldn't stand not being able to shoot my new gun. So I cut a fairly round 16mm circle out of a piece of blister pack clear plastic, punched a 2mm hole in ... pretty much the center and slipped it into my insertless globe sight. It kinda worked. Don't much care for the sight picture but it's better than nothing. Could work for minute of squirrel. Pic shows flipped 90 degrees CCW. Image safe does this for some reason.

25 yards

An Update on the 350 N TEC:

I'm very happy with the rifle. I can't yet attest to accuracy because I still don't have a front site insert. I can make 2 inch groups at 25 yards without one but it is frustrating. I'm sort of co-witnessing with my Williams peep, the lowered factory rear blade sight and the open globe. I think the gun will do 25 yd one inch groups with good sights or a scope. This is not a target gun. Do not buy one if critical accuracy is your thing. You won't get it.

But I purposely bought a 'magnum' springer ( gas ram ) to murder little furry and feathered pests and I think I won't miss too many of them with this gun. Because of the sight problems I can't really tell if it's hold sensitive. It has plenty of power. I would guess about 35% more than my TX 200. I need to drag the chrono out and verify this.

I have no doubt it will be plenty medicine for squirrels and birds. I think I will put a scope on it. I'm never going to be happy with these sights I fear. If ( big IF ) I can get rid of the undersized non standard front globe this may change. Diana has done this rifle a huge disservice putting a cheap near useless front globe on it. What were they thinking? As well as mounting this globe in a manner unusable by any other sight maker I've yet found.
