Diana 34 EMS

Borrow someone's Walter Springer and shoot it. The HW is a better gun. I say get the R7 since you seem to have trouble shooting springers. I would actually recommend the RWS 54 or 56 in your case that should keep up with PCPs in regards to ease of shooting accurately since they are semi recoilless guns. You would be hard pressed to match the accuracy of the 54 and 56 sub one inch easy at 50 yards and even at 100+ yards an inch to a little over an inch average and in fact even be wowed at 150+ yards under calm conditions and the max is just shy of 200 yards to be within reason to hit things reliably with enough holdover with these guns. The R7 is extremely tame to shoot. The only way you miss if you are a natural bad shot shooting it or when shooting springers period. Can't say the same for the R9/HW95 which is significantly much more harder to shoot accurately than the R7/HW30s.

Jesus. I never said I was THAT bad a shot. I’ve shot springers before ALOT but never a magnum. I’m just looking for something with manageable recoil. The 54 and 56 are entirely too heavy for hunting. I like the sledge design, but it needs to be carried with me in the woods or my back yard. The new 34 is a Diana offering, so why would holding a Walther gun help me? I know the new rws 3400 and 3500 are loosely based on them, but I haven’t heard of Diana guns being based on them. I like the classic d34, but it’s not offered by pyramyd any longer. They carry the 34 ems, but it’s a new platform. Modular, in you can change calibers, and decide between spring and gas ram. I just don’t know how reliable and accurate this new platform is. Not looking to be a guinea pig. If I have to wait for the R9 I will, I’m just looking at other options while I have time!

You would be asking real life current guinea pigs how their 34 EMS are doing that doesn't help you on long term reliability concerns. Guns should do fine when new especially when you see YouTube video reviews they are new so unproven yet.

I dont really trust Diana on their newly released guns offered after their switching from German to China on their PCPs says it's all about the money to me IMHO. Look at the 3400 they sold for $99 and $149 at AOA under the original 100% German made and labeled Walter. The 3400 is no longer 100% German.

Yeah, there’s basically no reviews on them right now other than what people saw at shot show. It didn’t say anything about made in China though. I was under the impression that their pcp offerings were made by snow peak in China, whereas their springer options were still German made. The reason umarex/rws brought out the 3400 and 3500 was due to Diana deciding they didn’t need umarex as their only American distributor any more. So basically Diana is distributing their own guns now, and left rws to pick up the pieces. It’ll be a sad day when quality German made springers are built in China. Maybe I will keep my 460 and just tune it. Then I’ll outright buy an R9 and keep both. Hmmmmm. You guys definitely get the cogs turning!!!

The Diana 34 EMS is made in Germany. So are many of the other models. Check out the catalog of their current offerings. It says right in it where they are made. The Model 34 classic is also still listed.

I don't know who may or may not be importing the various models. Diana split with RWS as the exclusive US importer. I believe that the models made in China all have the model number spelled out like the Diana Two Forty. The 3400 and 3500 you are seeing are not Dianas. I believe they are made from parts sourced from Walther and assembled here.

If I there is a way to attach a PDF of the current catalog I will.

I don’t even see it offered on the Diana website. Is it an offering for the USA only?

I don't have any first hand experience with the EMS. I recently bought a new Diana 280 through Hector Medina. I was debating between it and the 34EMS. I was told that the EMS is the same basic platform as the classic 34 but with enhancements to support modularity. I personally didn't need the modularity nor the power level. I already have a 34 classic.

You don't see many D280's here. A stock 280 is a bit less power than a 34. It is a tiny bit smaller and lighter than a 34. They were targeted at the UK market with their 12fpe limit. There is a dealer in Canada who carries them. My 280 was customized, tuned and set up by Hector Medina. He is affiliated with Diana and helps with their product development. The rifle is a smooth, quiet, very nice shooting gun with a light, crisp trigger.

If you look at that catalog you can see the specs with a direct comparison to the 34.
