There are literally about 10 different models of Discovery Optics scopes (or more) that you can find in the $100 price-range. The glass in them puts UTG to shame. Discovery makes some awesome stuff all-around. I would bet my ex-wife on it.
I have a UTG 6-24x56 scope and I dial it. So far, no issues. Here's a picture... the top turret has a little label, but you can get lost pretty easily as you may need to dial a lot for longer ranges (90 yds and above).
I've read about Leupold, Nightforce, and other high end scopes failing in this regard and also of more "inexpensive" scopes tracking reliably. Anything can fail to work as expected. If it tracks well, why not use it if needed?
So far I've had great results with my Athlon. Just picked up a Vortex Viper and to my dismay the minimum parallax correction is 50m, so I guess I'll have to put that on one of my high power rifles. :/ Punchline though? At about 200$ for the Athlon, I've had nothing but great experiences dialing. The quality of the glass itself doesn't match the Vortex but it is fine.
I have 2 UTG 3-9X32AO scopes that track on the money. When a truly precise shot is called for I do much better dialing it in than I do guessing at some area between mildots.
If I could figure out how to cheat the magnification so a mildot would be dead center at whatever the range is.....that'd be sweet !
