Deer Problems again

In response to all:
I was not intending to kill or wound a deer.
Only want to chase them away
I have thrown rocks at them and chased them yelling and screaming
They go away but come right back....
They are eating over 800 trees and my property has over a mile of boundry distance, so fence is out - too much $$
Rain washes off repellents and they are expensive
I doubt airsoft or paint would work, not enough range I think
Sorry for the mis-understanding here, I did not mean to offend anyone
Is shooting a squirrel violating anything on his forum? I also have that problem.
I see videos of shooting various animals including deer on the web.....

It is not the shooting of animals that is the problem. Everyone was very clear last time. But what you want to do is wrong and illegal. There really isnt any further advice we can give you. It seems like you want someone to say it is ok to shoot deer with a pellet gun to "scare" them. We wont so please go talk to your local DEC officer.

"Yote"Wrest rocket useing 50 cal round lead balls should work .
That's about the same energy as most air guns and just as damaging. Now if you had suggested marbles... but you didn't.

Still with modification the idea may be workable.

Dude, just put up a damn electric fence. How much does a half mile of electric fence wire cost? Trust an old hunter here, you are NOT going to teach the deer to stay off your property by shooting at them with air guns. All you are going to accomplish is to educate them to stay out of sight when you are on the property. They will hear you before you see them. They will see you before you hear them. They will smell you a quarter mile away down wind. They will learn what you do when you leave, when you come home, and when you take out the trash. Then after they have you figured out, you will never see them in the woods again... but they will still be there eating your trees.

Just put up a damn electric fence.

A friend in Utah County has the same problem. The City finally hired a professional hunter (probably local dude that claims to be a hunter) and he's using a crossbow to dispatch the deer. Same problems, deer eating everything in sight.

Maybe a light 12 gauge load with a beanbag or rubber bullet could encourage the critters to leave? Check local and state laws about killing nuisance animals on your property. If it were a smaller property, I'd say get one of those sprinklers that have an IR sensor and turn automatically when the deer come too close, but what you are describing would take many and at $80 each, that'd add up.

Or, perhaps, a single strand of electric wire fence. 5000 of wire won't be cheap as well as the electrical hook up and flags to warn people, but it might encourage the deer to avoid the area.

Unfortunately, in the end, Deer can be like rats. Just too danged many but as a game animal, they enjoy certain protections.

Most likely this, or get the local hunters to deal with them if possible.

OK, Deer are a pest. You aren't alone. Here's a site with several suggestions, including using your own urine to mark your yard. http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-Deer-Out-of-Your-Yard or this one - https://www.thisoldhouse.com/ideas/20-ways-to-keep-deer-out-your-yard

You might try (yes, this will wash off fairly quickly) lemon scented dish soap. use one of those hose end yard spray bottles. Mix a cup of soap and a cup of lemon scented amonia with enough water to make 30 gallons of spray. Hose down a section of your property and see if the deer like the lemon scent. The side benefit is that it is also insecticidal soap that kills gnats, mosquitoes and other things (good as well as bad, so be careful), the amonia is a rapid release fertilizer, and the scent drives most critters crazy. The big advantage is that it's cheap.

G'day Folks,

We have a similar problem with kangaroos in Australia: they jump standard height fences easily, [though prefer to scramble under loose wire if they can] and over-graze valuable crops. Farmers can get special permits to cull excessive numbers as they are otherwise completely protected. They are so agile electric fences are of no use. Local red deer are also easily able to clear electric farm fencing, but there are not as many being an imported species and, at least, they can be hunted in season.

On your mile square piece of land you bought and planted 800 trees.
Not one of the hundreds of people you had to deal with or employ ever
mentioned you might have a deer problem? Those bastards! With the depth
of your pockets and the extent of your investment seems odd you consider
fencing cost prohibitive. It is very considerate of you to seek a near silent
deterrent your neighbors must love you. Probably never considered this but
if you ever get in trouble on what surely must be one of Washington's largest
tree farm or orchards a pellet gun would not be any where near what a firearm
would. You ultra rich types are strange your life sounds like some kind of bull
poop story a burn out living in a van would come up with.
