Going in tomorrow for DBS surgery because I have severe essential tremors & was wondering if anybody has had this procedure done or know of someone who has had this surgery – was it successful at all ? Thanks in advance  Darell

Wow, sorry to hear that. I don’t know anyone, but can ask the Neurosurgeons at work if I see one of them and see what they say. 2nd opinions if you will.

    Hope all works out!

intenseaty22      I don't mind 2nd opinions because that's what I'm getting from my surgeons too lol . Heck if I can get 50% back I'd be happy , 75% I'd be tickled that would justify another gun . Hell going to do that anyways , so if you hear anything let me know .I do know they are doing it for both  hands .  Thanks  Darell

Spoke to Neuro Surgeon today. Said procedure is highly effective with minimal risk. Said having a good Doctor do it is paramount.

    Hope all turns out well.

    Warm regards

Christian  Thankyou   My doctor helped in the development of the procedure at Oregon State University Science Technology & Society so I should be in good hands . I don't think I would do this again because of the pain , my head feels like it was hit by a mack truck . It looks like I have about a pound of staples in my head (lol) The doctor  said  it was going to be painful but I didn't realize how much . My right hand is completely calm right at the moment but won't know the outcome for at least 4 more weeks .  Thanks for the info .  Darell

I am also a sufferer of sever tremors and awaiting the outcome of your recovery.. Prayers for you..  The neurologist is still trying drugs on me..    primidone, gabapentin  The other tend to slow heart rate and since my rate is low anyway he said he is reluctant to try them..

cosmic      I went thru the trial of all there drugs but to no avail & also have very low blood pressure so I experienced the different side effects as you have . I can relate to your problems , so sorry to hear we are in the same boat . For me it was my last option so I went for it . I'm still scared for the outcome but I still have faith that it will help out some . Any improvement will be better then what I was going thru. Its been 10 days since surgery & the severe head aches have been dissipating but not fast enough ha ha . End of next week they remove the staples from my head & will  do some test for the neuro. surgeon , then the following week they put the power on & test it . So I should know something by April 6th . I'll keep you posted of the outcome . Hang in there & if you want to talk about the surgery or anything feel free to pm me     Best of luck too  Darell

Just giving a short update of what happened last week with my doctors – they surprised me & turned on the stimulator what a weird process feeling the current running down my right arm before shocking me . Caught me by surprise but wasn't bad just when it goes from the arm pit to the wrist then you get ready for a slight shock . Got use to it but it's a annoying process. So the outcome is it got rid of my tremmors  by 98% I'm happy that I had the operation still recovering with some glitches though. If anybody would like to pm me about the operation & some of my side effects feel free to do so I'll give you my phone # . I'm able to shoot off hand like I use too ! So looks like a new PCP for this summer ! Best of luck with every ones hunting & plinking !   Darell

Going in next week for  fine tuneing . I'm happy with the results Thanks for everything    Darell  P.S. I'm one of the first ones to get the new controller for this setup in my area so my doc is learning it also  YIKES ( lol )

cosmic   To tell you the truth this was my own decision , was it worth it —- by 100 % totally HAPPY with the results . Was told that headaches were uncommon from this operation but they do not know why I have  tingling in 3 of right fingers & numbness to the right side of my mouth in front . I have doubts that it's going to go away but time will tell .Theres always a gamble with surgery's & their outcome . But what I was going thru with the  ( Tremmors ) I'm glad I decided to do it .They are gone—- by 97 to 98 % . Just remember that they don't expect you to have a 100 % result from this operation but it will improve your quality of life . Just got back from the Doc a few hours ago & they did the fine tuning to my brain  (LOL)  Everybody is different but I would do it again in a heartbeat  It's not really as bad as it sounds so check it out with your doctor. Best of luck to anybody that decides to do this in the future also . So now I'm just waiting for the rain to stop so I can get rid of those rabbits  that are eating all my new onion sprouts in my garden lol I can't believe they like them .   Cricket loaded   Darell.
