Decibel meter app suggestions

I know an app is not the best but I need a consistent way to ensure sound levels.

I have downloaded a few and tested them out and they range from super complicated to completely useless in mesuring sound which a very scientific experiment was used to determine this all based around me flicking the phone with my finger to see where the meter read and then flicking the phone as hard as I could to see the difference in sound...

what app do you guys use and how well does it work for you.

Saw your post while searching for something else, but thought I'd let you know about this professional grade app from an NIH govt lab that works on Acoustics research. Only caveat app only works on iOS. It can make average measurements, A and Z weighting, can calibrate external mics, etc..

I have it on my iPhone and it's truly amazing piece of work: https://twitter.com/NIOSHNoise/status/822186936093868035

Best of all, it's free! :)

I have been happy decibel10th it gives a constant read of db level and also keeps track of peak. How i have used it is to start the app and place it about 10-15 ft in front and about 45deg from muzzle then after i set it down i reset the peak and then walk back and shoot. Seems to work really well, my mutant std is reading 77 db if i remember correctly.

please post here if your happy with the above suggestion.

Also when i was researching i came across an article stating that the current phone db meters were within 1-3db of the consumer grade db meters. You would only see more accuracy if your buying a professional grade machine.
