Results December Ranchito Robinson Bench-Rest Silhouette Match Report

Seven shooters contested the December Ranchito Robinson Bench-Rest Silhouette match; enjoying the fine company and shooting challenge of no less than THREE Corcorrans (Bobby, Sandy, and Darwin) and four Red Wolves contesting the matches. Given the caliber of competitors in attendance, both visiting and regulars, and lighter winds than usual, the Match Director predicted the RR course record of 38/40 would fall. However, the unique combination of terrain, ground cover and outbuildings at RR twisted the lighter winds into a wind-doping puzzle to test... rather, tax the mettle of every shooter. And though several shooters posted personal bests, the club record remained intact.

In prevailing as Overall Match Winner with his 80 Foot Pound (maximum) class .25 Sumatra, Ron Robinson’s 37/40 included ten-in-a-row chickens and turkeys.

Derrick Wall’s excellent 36/40 with his .22 Daystate Pulsar earned him the 35 Foot Pound (maximum) Match Winner certificate, and a ten-in-a-row pigs award pin. Derrick also captured the Pistol BRS Match Winner certificate next day, setting an unbeatable new pistol BRS record with a perfect 40/40. Needless to say, in doing so he added 4 ten-in-a-row award pins to his weekend haul. GREAT SHOOTING DERRICK! If that guy ever learns how to tune an airgun, we’re gonna be in big trouble, Y'all.

A terrific Mexican food group-dinner with our Arizona friends after the rifle matches capped another memorable Ranchito Robinson Bench-Rest Silhouette weekend.

Wow, thanks for the pics Derrick.

Ranchito Robinson is beautiful. Really looks like heaven on earth. The benches are to die for, love the rubber mats atop. The sun shade to keep the sun out of the shooters eyes. The metal backstop at the spinner target is a great idea. The score cards. The framed winner certificates are certainly a classy touch. Looks like a professional run match! Lucky bunch of folks you are.

Ron, you sir are a professional when it comes to airgun matches! Makes me want to run away from home and move to Texas!

GREAT match, Ron! It would definitely be a great area to live in and your place is so nice and well kept ! Qualifies as Paradise for sure. We both enjoyed it immensely. Hope to break your course record some day, as well ;)

Congrats to YOU on the 80 ft lb class win and Derrick on the 35 ft lb class and Pistol class win ! ESPECIALLY the course record for pistol !!!

Was that the US version that Crusher is shooting ? If so thoughts ?

It is a Beta Test unit. It is actually the one you've already seen, Jim, during TEXtreme. With that said, Bobby Corcorran has had the deserved liberty to make adjustments. It was set up in .25 this time (from .22 on last experience). The gun felt amazing. Unlike my first handling of it, this time, the trigger was sublime, the scope was in proper position and it was stacking 33.95 JSBs. I almost was tempted to hypnotize the field and sneak off with the Delta 😆

Fuss

Where to begin?

Fuss beat me to thanking DW for the photos, so I'll second the thank you. And many thanks to Fuss for ALL the nice compliments Bud! I do indeed consider Ranchito Robinson my own little slice of Texas heaven on Earth; even more-so since finding my dream girl to share it with-

You're obviously very astute to mention the benches, sun-shades, targets and back-stops, score-cards and framed certificates; and much too kind, Fuss. I'm not a 'participation awards' or "braggin' rights only" kinda guy; so like to offer actual awards folks can display, and fondly recall their memorable performance(s).

Like all those goofy airgun books I wrote, the Ranchito Robinson competitions are but another example of my airgun passion manifested in blood, sweat, and tears. I'd say your compliments mean more to me than winning, but those who know me wouldn't hesitate to call out that lie! 👋

Good thing most of the faces of the outlaws in that photo D posted are indistinct; lest the Alphabet org fill their annual quota in one fail swoop! 😉 Is that the Bonnie and Clyde gang; there's definitely a girl amongst those bandits! 👩

We missed you, Jim. That reminds me I need to call you.

I do have a new rifle, Bob... sprinkled liberally with pixie dust by the Tooth Fairy! 😳

Happy Shooting All,
