Dealer recommendations to returning airgun user

New to the forum and my first post. Long time ago shot Sheridan Blue Streak(still have but needs work) and a front break spring. After many decades have developed an interest again and looking for dealers. Have read some of the posts today and seems that some dealers are not responsive of late. I do not want to get into any personal bashing but can anyone recommend some reputable folks to deal with when purchasing an airgun and supplies.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that. Any idea what has caused the glut of customers and lack of product and vendors?

It would seem ripe for someone to open a new business given that they, with decent customer service could do very well. I know at times the gun and ammo business goes through draught times but that is usually politically driven. I had not thought that the airgun industry would have that many customers.

This week, I did purchase a new Benjamin 392 from Baker airguns and it was shipped the next day and is on it's way. Maybe I am lucky as I just happened on them when I was trying to find out who could repair my mid 50's Blue Streak about a year ago. Recently, I decided to do a web search and found that they also sell airguns. Given he was responsive on my initial request for repair I e-mailed him and he immediately responded back. Two days later and maybe 5 e-mails I ordered the 392. Perhaps, I was lucky or perhaps he is not doing much business but Dennis was very responsive to me. I had hoped to find several suppliers as he was out of one of the pellets I wanted but soon found out that wherever I looked they were also out. Again, it would seem ripe for new vendors.

You would think so, but most US mfgrs have left the scene, most stuff comes from overseas, and the major industrialized countries there have nowhere near the work ethic of American companies/workers. The few small US companies in the business have a less than stellar reputation. Read down in this section and you will understand. Covid is the current excuse. Even if working from home, it’s easy to forward calls and check emails and texts. There is no justification for it. You would think after months of shutdowns due to Covid, they would roll up their sleeves and get to work, but they go on holiday. Try to find an FX Wildcat MKIII in stock. Try to find an FX Crown Continuum in stock. The Leshiy 2 promise date appears to be slipping, but they still may come close, and the Daystate Delta Wolf is said to be October (and probably later). The manufacturers could care less and most (not all) of their distributors are just as bad or worse than they are. Some good will come from Covid if some businesses go out of business.

Thanks for the info on the airgun state of affairs.

Being an older shooter I have learned well about firearms and ammunition dry ups so they are no problem as my stock is fine. I leaned well back in '08 and before but did not think that would effect airguns. Go figure. I guess that is why you only find the lower end guns in stock at most sites.
