Daystate Compressor and Omega? Alibaba clones? Who copied who?

"ztirffritz"Unless one says 'Made in Britain' or 'Made in the USA' or something like that, I'd assume that the Alibaba one is the original and Daystate is just rebranding it. You'd be amazed how much of that stuff comes from China and is just rebranded.
That was what I was getting at. I know the trade all too well. Some of the LAWS in other countries are not the same as USA especially if it has to do with where it is MADE or ASSEMBLED. Some of the countries, if you turn one bolt, it is now MADE in that country....

I'm waiting for a call back from AOA regarding the their Daystate compressor.
In the listing for it, it states an Italian manufacturer so I really don't think it could
be anything chinese. If anything probably something like Nardi.

My concern is the availability of it in 120 volt which is says is special order and
pricing.

I was ready to jump on the Omega or Alpha but after talking to a retailer who really did not
even want to sell me one, I decided I'd better spend a little more.

Well just talked to Jared at AOA they are Italian made. The unit is available
on special order for the 120V same price as 220V.

Also discussed the Omega line. I was told that that they come from a different
manufacturer than the Alpha's. Also was told that they have had very few problems.
In fact they are back ordered and can not keep them on the shelf.

I would be EXTREMELY interested in a follow up review from Ted on his Omega.

Did Jared tell you what amperage the unit requires for 120V?
Its going to draw more current that from a 220V supply.

Its going to need a 30 amp circuit...... yeh its 115v but your gonna be limited to one outlet just like a 220v. (average household garage runs on 20 amp circuits... most households are 15amp)

so more than likely you will have to put in a special circuit just for it.

Better to go with the 220v. ...

btw the daystate is a rebranded coltri... just like the max air35. http://www.coltrisub.it/COMPRESSORS/PORTABLE/ENG/ELECTRIC/MCH6_EM/mch6_em.htm

Coltri is a good compressor.... I have one myself (max air 35) ...

There price on the compressor is right there with all the others.... 2995$ thats about as good as your gonna get for a full out scuba compressor. clicking on the link regal provided coltri is offering a sale price of 2900$.

The only ?? i would have about this is who offers the after sales service/support. and where do u go to get the parts.... Although Im sure any and all parts can be had from culture direct.

I bought mine second hand it was gas powered. I swapped it out for a 5 hp 220v electric motor.... (runs a lot more efficient with a 5hp, less draw ) couldn't be happier...

Time. Then there is the friend factor. When I get into something, inevitably they all want in and look to me for advise and fix all their problems.

I'm into free diving, but scuba too. Saving time and effort on filling is a plus. Guaranteed quality air in all our gear equates to longevity of the gear. If we have a tank or two not hydro tested that we know are safe...

no, on the contrary though. I'm poor. I just work things out in trade or when I really want something, I'll do side jobs and pay things off over time.

If I did get the compressor, I would turn it into a small business of filling people's tanks for a small fee.

I never spend money. I only invest in quality gear that will benefit me in the long run or pay itself off over time.

I intend to hunt with my new pcp and sell some of my old springers. The offset food bill will pay for the gun 10 fold.

I like that answer, skygear. I understand the shoebox takes forever. Nothing like a little free range organic bacon. Talking to another father at my kid's school that works at a slaughter/ packing place, the pigs appeared to him to know what is coming and are really upset and screaming. The videos I have seen of popping one or two pigs at a time in the wild look nicer. Makes good since if you can offset the price by filling tanks and eating the original organic meat.

"skygear"I was looking at the 3 phase Stainless version. I have to price that puppy out. Where did you find the second hand one? I have been scouring the craigslist and eBay ads .
I bought it about 6 months ago.... on CL... guy in GA had it . Looked good in the pics and the guy sounded legit on the phone. so i wired him the 1600$ and he sent me the compressor in a nice small wooden crate. UPS.

The gas motor got old quick with the northeast winter approaching so i converted it to electric

"scotty"Clearly I am in a different tax bracket as that price is brutal! Pardon my ignorance but why not the Shoebox compressor? You could throw away a couple and still be ahead fiscally. What am I missing?

Shoebox your gonna be into it for about 1400 - 1500 dollars by the time you buy a compressor for the first stage... some filtering... and what ever else... (been there done that)

and it still doesn't give you dry air. plus it takes for ever and you gotta babysit it every 2 - 3 hrs lubing....(yeh i know not anymore with auto lube)

For me its more about the moisture in the air. I drained my 88 cf tank one day... and tipped it over one day. it was an eye opener and from that point on i began the hunt.

with the compressor it take me 6 mins to top off my tank from 2800 psi to 4500.... and i know the air is dry.
