Dave and Carl’s Airgun Adventures - Episode 1

Our first clue should have been the rather large piles of skat. The second clue should have been the even bigger paw prints in the snow…

Being the experienced outdoorsman that we are (Lol!), we didn’t concern ourselves with the details. We were more focused on airing up and getting our magazines loaded. Meanwhile, we were being watched…

As they studied us, one of the big cats said to the other one, look… they have airguns! Having never seen this approach, they were cautious. What idiot would bring an airgun to a cat fight? Maybe it’s a new kind of air rifle? Maybe it’s one of those you see on AGN? The big cats decided to wait and watch this strange behavior.

As the day went on, the cats watched. Are these guys real? They can’t seem to hit sh*t. Is it a trick? Are their pellets really as deformed at they’re complaining about? Concerned about all the wild shots and ricochets, the big cats decided to leave well enough alone.

We know they’ll be back one said to the other and we’ll be here…

(skat pictures omitted… yes, Carl really did take pictures of the skat!)

Just one week later, Dave and I were back at it ... we got to our shooting spot and not a sole in sight, we were psyched! I jumped out the truck and noticed the odd green scat... Dave said, "it feels like something is watching us..." I kinda blew that comment off, and started to unload my truck.

The snow melted, targets were set-up at 50, 75, and 100yrds. Both of us shooting .25 Wildcats. We started out strong, blasting dime and quarter size groups at 50 and pretty much the same at 75yds. However, when it came to the 2" spinner at 100yds, things got cold. A bone chilling mist began to fall (typical spring day in Oregon). Teeth chattering, Dave cursing about the crappy tin of pellets that he was shooting. At this point, both of us couldn't hit for sht! I connected for 6 consecutive shots and Dave pulled away with 9. After 3hrs of shooting, we called it quits.

Reflecting back on that day, I think we were being watched ... Bigfoot?
