DAR Gen lll

I do not have an official list of changes but these are my observations from a .25:

1. Better trigger – gen 1 and gen 2 were rough with a lot of stick-slip behavior…new one is smooth in the one I have
2. Beefy barrel band
3. Larger plenum
4. Picatinny rail rather than 11mm dovetail
5. Foster fitting rather than fill probe
6. Gauge on the underside of the stock – previously at the end of the air tube
7. Biathlon style cocking lever

Yes, a single manometer on the reservoir.

I do like a plenum gauge, especially if the regulator has a spotty track record. Can’t say I’ve missed it on the DAR though. I have checked the first shot after sitting idle overnight several times now and it is spot on every time. POI is also reliable which tells me not just that the regulator is working well but that the barrel and shroud and baffles are not introducing any shift. Great combination for pest control and small game duties.

How many shots per fill Do you think you can get out of that 25 caliber? I’ve been thinking about getting a 25 caliber since I don’t have one yet.

I still need to do a full string but it’s somewhere north of 30 shots at 47fpe.

I want one now because I don't have a .25 or anything that has this much FPE.

Why do I need that much FPE the 'BOSS' will ask? I'll reply by saying:

'Better to have and not want than to want and not have'.........or something like that.

Wish me luck or prayers.

Too bad it has a 3000 psi fill and 250 cc cylinder. Can't be very many higher powered shots.

FWIW their published number on the reservoir volume is wrong. I came up with approx 167cc based on the tube ID and length so no it's not suited for long bench sessions, at least not in .25 caliber. It's pretty lightweight for a rifle with a wood stock and only 41" overall length so it is more of a field carry hunting rig. I'm a lanky 5'11" 145lbs and it handles and maneuvers nicely. For me, a great day out hunting is about 10 shots...most times it's more like 3. Granted I wouldn't trek out with a rifle capable of only 10 shots but 30+ shots puts me at ease.

First attempt at 50 yards with the JSB heavies told me it's up to the task of 1 shot 1 kill. That's what I like to see.

Looks like a nice rifle for $399. Too bad it has a 3000 psi fill and 250 cc cylinder. Can't be very many higher powered shots.

Some people see a 3000 psi fill as an attribute not a negative.

I have both 3000psi and 4350psi guns and both have their place.

I like the improvements they made from the gen 2's but wish they would have added a reg pressure guage.

At $400 and the JTS @ $420 whenever they come out, the JTS looks like a better value IMO.

The gen 2's are good guns and the price was right for them. I'm sure these will be better!

As per Dar, no more .177 😞

Looks like no .177cal? Hope they didn't drop the .177 cal. I have a gen2 .177 and it's a great shooting rifle and very quiet. Went to the site to order a gen 3 but only 22 and 25 listed :(

In conversation with Joe, the .177 barrels were problematic at best. It took 3 barrels to finally get my Gen 2 .177 to shoot a half decent group and that is with only a single pellet, the RWS Meisterkugeln.

My .22 shoots hole in hole at 30-50' and 0.30" at 50y with zero wind. The .25 piles up pellets at 50y but I have not measured the group, It's for hunting so I just shoot steel set at different distances for my dope card.

I also modified the stock on one to better suit my grip and have changed all three regulators to suit the FPE I was after. I expect that the Gen 3 will be just as easy to modify and with the larger plenum, I am hoping I can squeeze even more power from the .25 for my 46gr slugs.

Very nice group. Did you verify 167 v 250? That's kind of a big typo for DAR. Is there a plenum taking up the additional space?

The 167cc reservoir is based on the actual tube ID and length. I think Dana had arrived at a very similar number reported in his video.

The plenum on my .25 cal measured approximately 25cc.

These two volumes are distinctly separate...meaning not simply a single long tube with a plenum spacer.
