DANGER: Asking for PayPal F&F or x% add-on fees.

If you put yourself in a bad situation can you really complain when something bad happens?

Therein lies a deeper issue in humanity methinks.

It's SO easy to fool ourselves, "Well, this time will be okay." I do it myself. You'd think I'd get wiser with age.

Or worse, feel so entitled. "I want served, and I want it free." PayPal's not a charity and provides a valued service to millions.

I hate being scammed, super-rare as that may be. Point of the thread was to really make folks aware, as many seem otherwise.

When I see F&F I run away as fast as I can.

I do enjoy reading the threads of guys getting scammed after using F&F though.

If you put yourself in a bad situation can you really complain when something bad happens?

I've used FF hundreds of times buying and selling and never a problem.

Sorry to spoil your enjoyment.

I have to say I agree with this. I have used F&F on here many, many times and never had a problem. I have also sold and been paid with F&F, and no one has ever been scammed by me. I do my homework, I look at the profile, I look at the seller’s posts and I communicate with them by PM, text, email and phone calls. Of course something bad could happen on my next purchase, but that is always true.

Sometimes, what I read in these threads would lead me to believe that the Classifieds is full of scammers and thieves. That has not been my experience.

Still. If it's not really friend or family, then it's at the very least, cheating.

Yes, it is.

And you have to wonder how long it will take to figure out you get and F&F payment from Joe Blow and then you turn around and send him a shipment using PP Multi Order Shipping.

Honestly - I used to care what people used as Purchase option would protect both the seller and even more so the buyer. As soon as I heard that PP may not cover and airgun even if Purchase option used - well screw them then. I still prefer people use PP purchase, but people are gonna do what they're gonna do and if it makes a sale - well you're the seller and you full well know if you're gonna do the right thing or not.

FYI - eBay/PayPal member since 2002 as slongtemps with 100% feedback and still yet to be scammed anywhere.

Edit - quick edit to note: I will never buy from anyone who asks for fees to use Purchase option. They are basically using the system and will mess it up for everyone else.

When I buy here I welcome F&F from known members. I only buy from those type of folks regardless of F&F. When I sell its F&F or you pay fees. If that bothers you, don’t buy the item. F&F allows the buyer to save 3%. I give a rats rectum what Paypal has to say. If I was selling straight Paypal, I would just jack the price by 3% to cover the fees The idea is for the seller to get a fair return and the buyer to get a good deal. Not for Paypal to make money. I don’t guess i’m getting old, I am. LOL

Paypal is a service to pay for goods. If you are using their service, you should pay. Not try to get around it. Smh. So I come and rent your house or car and don't pay you. How do you feel. Maybe you shouldn't use paypal? I dont work with Paypal. I'm just stating the facts. Paypals is a service we all use to buy and sell good. They take a percentage of it just like ebay. That is how they make profit.

As a buyer, I will not use FF. As a seller I would never ask a buyer to use FF, or agree to do so, and I will include the 3% in my asking price.

There are a number of reasons, being careful is just one.

Paypal is a service. They make that service available to me by charging a fee. Before Paypal, we needed to go down to the post office etc. and get money orders to try to protect ourselves from fraud, mail them, and wait days to find out how it all worked out. And if something went wrong, that only might work out in my favor. Recourse was a long time coming and difficult. Months.

Now I can have some sense of safety and not have to make special trips, or wait for the pony express to make a transaction,. It's instant and relatively safe.

I am willing to pay for that service. I feel tot doing so is trying to cheat. I use FF for Friends and Family, and appreciate that Paypal offers a way to use their service for free. I do not use FF for any other transaction. If a seller here asks for 3% for Paypal, I am willing to pay that for peace of mind both between us, and between myself and using Paypal's service.

I have a few questions, What form of payment is not only safe for the buyer but also the seller as well? I tried to delete my adds in order to repost but it will only allow me to change the title can anyone please tell me why? Thank you.

Agree completely ... don't scam the system that makes your life so much easier.

In the 70's I studied in the UK ... when I needed money the check would go by boat ... reach me ... deposited ... then the bank would need confirmation ... boat back to the US and

finally ... about 6 weeks later the funds were available.

in 2000 my daughter did a similar thing ... could wire the money and she would have it in a week.

Today with PP I could conceivably get the funds there overnight.
