Cutting a 700mm slug liner to 600mm

I’m thinking of doing this to take advantage of the slightly quicker twist rate (1:15)of the 700mm slug liner over the 600mm(1:15.5)
I’m going to use it in my RedWolf which has the power to push some heavier slugs down a 600mm barrel. It’s .22 cal and currently shoots 25.5g slugs very well Over that weight accurately starts to diminish. I’m aim is to be able to shoot 30g or even a bit heavier. I have tested the liner I’m cutting in my Impact and it shoots the heavier slugs very well

Matt Dubber mentioned they had made the twist rate of the 700mm a little quicker in expectation that people would want to shoot longer and heavier slugs

Now that the Impact has had a big power boost with the introduction of the power plenum it might work well there also for people who want to keep there gun a little shorter but shoot heavier/longer slugs.

I have the 700mm inner ready to cut but thought before I do I’d ask if anyone had any tips on how to cut the liner and the best way to do the lead in?

Throat reamer is the best way, but others will recommend the Alibaba route for reamers / rotary tool bits. It's also funny that you mention this, because Friday I had the same idea to do this with a spare 700mm slug liner. My Taipan build has the power for 33-36gr, but the 600mm liners seem not to like anything above 25gr, I need to make a pilot for my throater and I'll be ready to put on the proctology gloves and get to work 🧤🧤

+1 on what mtnGhost said but not having the correct tools on hand these are what I ended up using. A drill bit close to .22 a carbide burr tool and a punch which I tape a piece of first 400 then 600 wet dry sandpaper to for the finishing polish. This has served me so well in my 20+ years of doing it that I have never bothered purchasing the correct tools. It is also what I used when I cut down an FX barrel liner to use for my .22 Crosman repeater pistol mod. It shoots them through the same hole at 25 yards.

You read my mind. I bought my Crown Cont. with a 700mm slug liner last year, but really never enjoyed it because of the extremely high reg pressures I had to use. Now I have the Impact coming with the standard 600mm barrel system and was going to shorten that sucker down the extra 10cm and give it another try.
