Tuning Curved Cross Action Tweezers For Loading Pellets

If there's anything those of us who own Beeman P-17's, and/or steel breeched Crosman 1377 / 1322 or the Winchester 1977XS or Daisy 880 or the TX200 know, its that the chambers of those airguns can be a PITA to load. We all 'roll the pellet in', right? And, sometimes have the pellet end up backwards, (which in the steel breeched Crosmans will cause a jam).

What to do to solve this dilemma? Use curved cross action tweezers to load the pellet.

These will all work great.

This is what I have.

SE 4-1/2" Curved Cross Action Tweezers – 507TW

They're just the thing for loading pellets in the small chamber of my Winnie 1977XS and a godsend for Beeman P-17's &/or steel breeched, Crosman 1377 / 1322's.

This one below looks like it would work fine too.. A tad more inexpensive too than the cross action tweezers I got from Amazon.

These will also do the trick. Cheaper too.

One thing I also did that you guys might want to do is to make a scabbard for the tweezers to hold them and your pellets to the stock of your rifles..

I had this belt I had bought at Dollar General. Turned out it was made from vinyl rather than leather. Stretched big time when I wore it. So to get my moneys worth I've been cutting 8 inches off, then cut that in half and then use duct tape to make a scabbard for Air Venturi pellet pens. The scabbard also holds the cross action tweezers snugly. Duct tape holds it on the stock (which kinda looks tacky … brown or black spray paint would make it blend in better). I don't really care about tacky myself. Utility value is more important to me.

When I load my TX and other difficult to load guns, I like to point the barrel skyward and put the pellet on my thumb with the fore finger just barely holding the pellet so it doesnt fall off. It slides right into position and extra pressure from that thumb seats it into position. It is only rare that the pellet doesnt slide into position. Been using this method for well over 30 years and has become second nature when loading these types of guns.

I'm glad that works for you. The reason I added TX200's to the OP is that I was chatting w/ crowski at another thread and he was saying his .22 TX200 was hard to load. So I told him about curved cross action tweezers and over the course of our convo, I decided I should start a thread on the subject and let everybody at AGN know curved cross action tweezers work great on hard to load air guns.

Just what I need, gonna order 2 from Ammozon.

Will work Great when I shoot from a Bench, Thanks

You're welcome. I do a major part of my target practice at night shooting from a bench. When I reload, I have a flashlight in one hand and cross action tweezers holding a pellet in the other hand. It greatly simplifies things. *Smiles*

Longfellow I told you I had one, found today and tried it out.

They actually worked with control. Didn’t like extra steps, could see being real handy with .177. New tool.

Gave the Pro Sport a run today, sweet rifle.

Houdini would have trouble putting a 177 and there.
I forgot to mention there was no damage done to the shot as well. Crow

That's great, Crow. You can just push them in now like w/ any other springer.

I too forgot something ... to amend it, I just added .... If there's anything those of us who own Beeman P-17's ... to the 1st sentence of the OP. Just about the hardest loading air gun around, definitely the hardest air pistol; but, cross action tweezers make it easy[er]..
