Crows at 55 yards

Rarely can I see the pellet in flight. Some times better than others; sun angle/pellet reflection ?

Thanks for the schematic. I do not see anything skeletal that could stop the pellet. So, maybe it is the feathers ? I don`t know.

Generally I take body, centre of mass, shots as I find it difficult to estimate windage deflection from light, but gusting, cross winds.

Body shots on good size crows require lots of luck for a take down or have a gun pushing heavy hard hitting lead! Heck, my 77fpe bobcat has been deflected off the upper wings. Now with any of my guns I go for head shot/ neck shot/ or aim just below midway body .25-9mm or belly with the .30 making sure pelts flights at impact is busting its way towards the heart/lung area. From the back midway centered .25-9mm aiming for spine with trajectory bisecting heart lung area. .30-9mm rear neck shot aiming for spine.
With .22 I only take head shots only, the big crows I incounter will laugh at my mrod. With crows for me it's all about delivering the most energy I can. They are tuff birds and I approach them with Extreme prejudice !
