Can someone tell me who has removed the shroud end cap on the crown, how it is taken off? I need to install a DonnyFL 1/2 X 20 UNF adapter on the shroud so I can screw a moderator on the end of my crown. Judging by the adapter, it looks like the stock shroud end cap screws off/on. I need to know what is the best way to get the stock end cap off without damaging it. I also need to know if at the factory they used locktite on the end cap.

AZCCJ, the caps are not loctite. find needle nose pliers that fit inside those two holes. If you want to prevent it from scratching, put a piece of cloth on top before using the needle nose pliers. use your left hand to grab onto the shroud, then with the right hand holding the pliers, press in a little to prevent slipping and turn counter clockwise. That should get it out.

The Tatsu is awesome on a shrouded barrel!!! The vent holes have a great affect in my opinion!

Don't use needle nose plyers they will distort the holes in the end cap. go buy a set of spanner wrenches they will apply even pressure and not damage the end cap.

Something to note is that Donny provides a very nice, knurled nut that replaces the end cap when not using his moderator so there’s no need to use the factory endcap again.

Save the end cap you may need it later. They may pass a law that says no threaded barrels, don't laugh I live in what's left of California It could happen. I have the Donny Sumo on
my crown and the endcap adapter from Donny is great fits perfect and with the thread protcter on you don't even notice it.

I put the adapter and sumo on my crown.30 yesterday, works great with the shroud not extended, stupid quiet, but having trouble with the factory shroud moving after every shot, i wish there was a way to fix the shroud so it locks into place. I have to shoot it more but with the sumo vs just the shroud extended no sumo, there is about a foot drop at 60 yards.

The shroud is held in place by a barrel clamp, remove shroud, unlock the clamp and slide it towards the breech, then reclamp.

I filed down the end of a set of offset needle nose pliers until each half fit into holes, then the end cap screwed right off without any damage to holes. Just make sure you round off any sharp edges with a file.
