Crown & Impact Power Mod Kits by FX USA (Ernest Rowe)

I do not like it either, but I do see reasons, and I do not think all customers that want HP kits have the skills to install the kit, of course some of us can, but for sure not all (there are proof of that on some users around here). I can see the logic on inhouse install, some customers that do not have all the skills will rant about HP kit, all over social media, and maybe (actually it happens a lot) the problem was not the HP kit. That kit should be "given" to beta testers only, and reviewers, after that ... whatever the tests show (JMO)

In the other hand I can see in the future a new FX IMPACT X HP (Or impact x 2), with improvements and everything HP installed, truly HP requires more than what the HP kit have right now. Including larger TP on probe and barrel, Larger Delrin Seat, 40cc plenum, among others.

For slugs add Slug Liner

So bummer! the wait continues! :(

Bottom line today is Power Kit Version 3 is it for the Crown..

.. It is a two piece without the Hammer Spring..

Earlier Version came with a New Hammer Spring..

That Valve change is only needed if damage occurs to the original Valve..

Earnest is finalizing a Tune option that requires the FX stamp of approval presently..

I was told it would be in the $400 range and would required you to ship your Rifle to him

When will this option will be available? I was told it would be very soon..

Sounds interesting, and quite intense...likely increased plenum and much work to get the port work achieved that is needed for large calibers. Just a hunch though! I'd imagine good things should come from some shared information :)

I'll simply say that I stuck with the basic Hammer Mod and am not interested in what I am affectionately referring to as Ernest's "Full Monty" (FX Service USA installed oversized valve seat, valve stem, larger transfer port, etc.). Besides, the Full Monty sounds better than Power Kit Version 4.

Plenty happy to just have this simple hammer weight modification. Easily done and it will allow me to tap into higher regulated pressures that the stock hammer couldn't quite overcome. This will result in a bit of extra velocity and adjustment at those high pressures. For purposes of durability I might consider a titanium valve seat in its stock size configuration if Ernest were to continue to offer those (It was created purely to provide additional strength over the factory part).

As to the "Full Monty" I'll likely never need or want that. Just not into larger calibers or weights in the Crown. But then I'm sure there are plenty of folks who will pursue it and I totally respect that as it's all part of being AirGun-Ho.

Newmann told me they shipped Bob. I messed with my gun a little more today and got it shooting very tight groups at 885fps with the 33.95 MkI. Like we talked about, even if the tune kit will get me up over 900fps I'll be happy, more is better though! I've got some time off in the near future, I'm hoping to get the tune kit and the slug liner installed before then. Keeping my finger crossed the slug liner gets here when it's supposed to.

Thank you stoti!!

Cc,

When I and a few others ordered, we just wanted the basic hammer mod kit. There was another member who posted that the kit didn't get him the results he wanted. Apparently he was looking for something more, which put the kits on hold, as it was assumed we all were looking for some huge gains.

I'm not looking for a huge gain, I just want to be able to fully utilize 150bar, which the basic kit should be able to do. So I emailed Newman and asked if I could still get the basic kit, and he said I could.

I don't know how many of the basic kits were available, as I requested this several days ago. He agrees to send me the kit with the understanding that it "may" give me the results I'm looking for. What I'm getting is not the power tune kit.

IMO I'd be patient, I am sure things are in the works that will vastly improve the results obtained from a power kit...at least I think...

.30" cal is considered big bore, we have a section on the forums here for big bores subtitled (150+ fpe)....30 cals should be able to make 150~ fpe @ 170 bar with 90% bore porting (.27 ports) and 700mm barrel...nearly 30-40% more than what the current power mod kit does for the .30 cals...

If I take the above and reduce the porting to the likely .2" (66% of bore) that the fx valve can flow...I get 110~ FPE peak, which is about where its at @ 170 bar...

So are you saying a better regulator, that can reliably go to 170 bar, should get a 30 Crown to 110 FPE? If so the best mod may be a Huma regulator when they come out. Yes? No?

Kit arrived today. I'll be installing it this evening and will post results from the Chronograph. Hoping for an improvement over this:
