Crown 22 cal

I don't think it is unfair to say that a given pellet through a given choke and at a given twist rate will have a "sweet spot" for accuracy, both in terms of absolute accuracy and in terms of minimizing wind drift. (real world accuracy) So really one would expect, with a Crown or any rifle for that matter, a certain reduction in accuracy if you move off your peak tune.

That said, I've dialed my Crown back with the transfer port and not had any accuracy issues. I'm afraid I've never tried a statistical investigation of how it changes group sizes, because when I'm shooting for keeps I run full power, but I've not noticed anything going wonky. I hope that helps.

Given that a whole new rifle will be quite a spicy purchase, you might consider trying the pellet B liner on your wildcat before investing in a whole new rifle. It might not ultimately be the silver bullet you're looking for, but I'm betting the faster twist rate it runs will help stabilize pellets better at lower velocities. Just a wild guess though. I sort of figure 100$ for something you can probably sell again on the classifieds if it doesn't work out is worth a shot before dumping a couple grand into a new rifle, optics, etc.

Just throwing ideas out there. :)

Played with mine the other day WAY down in power. Reg I left at 130 where its tuned to. Went with the transfer port to 177 and hammer from min to max and transfer port at 22 and hammer up and down. At 27 yards, my back yard range groups were still good with a bunch of pellets. 500 fps minimum with a 21 gr pellet and a bit more with the GTO's. Nice thing is two quick turns just that fast and I'm back to the tune for 18.13's, takes me longer to type than do.
