So I had a Crosman NPS TR77 in my Amazon cart for the longest time. It was there even when I chose the Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk 22 a few weeks back.!!! So it showed up today.

I opened the box and first impressions. 1. This thing looks like a toy 2. The laser etching where it says 'Nitro' on the barrell looks kinda sloppy 3. The plastic barrel shroud had some glue that had squeezed out during install. No big deal, this is gonna be for the backpack anyways. Just wanted to provide some observations.

I had already had a Traxxas 5114 bearing for the trigger mod. So I removed the 3 stock bolts (all were loose,in typical Crosman fashion) and did the trigger mods. Please note, in addition to the video instructions I also remove the plastic piece that the original adjustment screw threads into.

I carefully cleaned out every threaded hole including the barrel pivot (it was also loose) , scope mounts, scope stop etc and cleaned all of the bolts with a wire brush and alcohol until they were clean. I then blue Loctited them as I reassembled it. Paying close attention to any cocking linkage areas that could use a tad bit of grease as well.

Then I used my umarex cleaning kit and pulled a WD40 soaked 17 cal mop thru the bore. The 3rd time it came out clean.

I went to my go to plinking spot and took a few shots at my 3 target spinner setup at 13 yards (hey, its all the room I had) and gave it a try. I missed a few times, each time taking aim on a far up,far left, or far right just to see where it was landing. After about 10 shots and scope adjustments I had it spinning the target every time. It stopped dieseling at about shot 4 but still is fairly loud for a pellet slinger. The next 10 shots I spun the targets every time. It seems like this little 17 is a powerhouse. Online testing and chroni readings indicate about 1050 FPS with a 7 gr pellet. It also stated that this particular model prefers the Crosman Premier Hollow Points readily available at Walmart ($7bux for 500ct)

So, its not a exotic materials, detailed, high end piece but its a hoot. I will follow up here with updates, along the way.

Had just a few minutes extra time today and decided to take 5 shots at 13 yard spinners. Using Crosman pointed pellets, spun all 5 targets like a type writer. I think I may like this rifle, and the Crosman pointed pellets.... I will see how it does at my 20 yard setup when I get some time. I gotta say this thing is a beast to cock, somethin like 38lbs of effort. The light weight is great though.

Circled shots are Crosman Pointed Labeled 'P'

Square outlined shots are Crosman Premier Hollow Points Labeled 'HP'

Triangular Outline and arrows pointed toward hole are Crosman Wadcutters Labeled "W'

All shot from 21 Yards. Dont laugh I am new to airgunning! And this is the first session with my NPS on a paper target and over 13 Yards. I think I am favoring the Crosman pointed pellets, I never adjusted my aim from the bullseye for testing purposes on any shots. As you can see I stacked 3 hollow points. The very first shot was a bullseye with a Crosman Pointed Pellet. It hated the Crosman Wadcutters, they all flew high and left. 5 shots each, total of 15 shots

Update, although the NPS TR77 loves both the Crosman Pointed 7.4 Gr, and Crosman Premier Hollow Points it favors the Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum 10.5 Gr the best. I found them at Dicks sporting goods, so knowing I was in the 1150 FPS range with the 7.4 Gr I was confident the heavier pellets would quiet the report down a tad and up consistency with an added bit punch for the slightly larger critters........Yep, it loves them! Side bonus is the NPS TR77 doesnt recoil so violently with the heavier pellets which is always a good thing.
