Recently the fully modified Crosman 1377 model, 2289G or 1389 has caught my eye. I like that its easily stuffed in a back pack so I can make the trek into the woods without drawing attention. I also like the fact that its easily usable for people with less than super human strength (my NPS TR77 is 38lbs cocking effort and is the shortest model I own)

So I am fairly certain the 2289G will be a 22 cal, so I think thats out of the question as my preferred cal is 177. I guess my questions are

1. What are the differences between a 1377 and 1389?
2. Do I have to buy a 1377 and build it myself or can they be purchased already built? ( I dont mind the work, just wondering if it can be cheaper this way)
3. What are your opinions on these models?

Things that are important to me. Accuracy at 20-25 yards, small game capable, extremely quiet (LDC?) , lightweight, reliable.

1377 is a pistol multi pump 177 cal with a bolt style loading port you pull back the bolt to cock the gun fire repeat(older ones have a rear cocking knob that must be pulled back before firing )
1389 is a rifle multi pump .177 cal to load it you must open the loading gate load a pellet close it pull back the rear cocking knob fire then repeat
1389 is not available from crosman any more the 1377 is.

1322 (22cal) was my first air pistol bought it for my 18 birthday could pick flees off with it. About twenty years finally wore it out never rebuilt it lost it.
I have had not much luck with the .177 1377 and don't like it for me it shoots constantly to the right has to do with the trigger being pulled
its a heavy trigger one could modify the trigger with a lighter spring it would correct this but i never did it to mine i just returned to the store.
About eight years ago I remembered my 1322 how great it was So I went looking to buy a new one but was sad to find none on the market at that time but I found the 2289 back packer which i have been modding and hot roding it ever since. I'm not using it as a take down rifle but as a pistol its great lol here's a pic

crosman 2289 22 cal steel breach, flat top piston, Steven Corcoran walnut stock, Marauder “p-rod” trigger kit. My apologies for the pose i hope its aright i don't have one of it alone.

Thanks You for your time to reply, and no need to apologize for the pic!

I see the 2 offerings from Crosman are called the "American Classic" in 177 or 22 cal. Do you think the American Classic 22 will perform on par with your 2289 once modded? I enjoy modding and tinkering, so the work isnt an issue. I would want a steel breech kit, scope, stock, trigger kit, longer barrell, upgraded barrell band and maybe some piston/valve mods.

All your not getting with a American Classic 1322 or 1377 is a removable stock (witch has a spring loaded button on the grip frame)
and a 14" barrel
1322 older versions are rear cocking newer are bolt, 2289 bolt cocking, both come with plastic breaches
1322 has a 10.1' barrel, 2289 comes with a 14" barrel
all parts and pieces are the same with minor difference depending on age and will bolt on
2240 2260 although different tube size every thing else will work like grip frames, triggers, trigger packs.
Barrels can be from 10.1 to 24 inches including a Lothar-Walther target barrel 10.1 though
http://www.hpasports.com/4-crosman-1322 makes aluminum pump arm pivot and barrel bands
http://www.airgunsmith.com/ has some good info he used to sell custom parts not sure if he does any more or not but has good info on mods how to's etc.
