Crimson Trace 2 series now 50% off

I just received an email from Midway that the CT 2 series are now on sale. This could be a better deal than the recent 3 series that sold out in the higher magnification if you missed out on it.

If they are going to end production and you have warranty issues they would upgrade you if what you had isn't available. I can't picture them downgrading you. I think midway is clearing out their inventory since optics planet still has them at regular price.

Everyone has them at regular price but I doubt any stock exists at vendor level. If they got an order it would probably drop ship. How could you let one vendor sell them for half the price of the rest? You wouldn't have any vendors left after sticking them with stock worth less than what they paid.

How do you upgrade someone from Japanese optics when all your production is moving to the Phillipines? Phillipine glass is real iffy and generally not in the same class as Japanese nor is the workmanship. Most of the people on this site buying this scope are doing it because it is Made In Japan. We will just have to see how this all plays out.

Anyone know what makes the 5 series worth so much more?? Seems like the same glass so where is the extra value??

it is better glass, no doubt about it but for general purposes most people won’t be able to tell right off the bat unless it’s side by side. Color, contrast and resolution is better on the series 5 with small details jus pop. Is it worth 2x? Depends on your preference. Given how good series 3 is and solid tracking turrets the extra cost might not be justifiable for many.

You got at least twice the equity regardless even if you get a replacement Filipino model if later need any warranty and you can sell it fir more than what I paid for the Japan one if you don't like it plus Midway has a 364 day return policy too and you get store credit 4 what u paid from day 90 to day 364 how can you beat that-?

Does it have an illuminated reticle? Over 2 pounds weight would only have me considering it for a heavy barrelled powder burner, and only for a night scope if it has an illuminated reticle. Private labeling has its problems with repair issues in the future, and resale value is always less than premium brands, but can be an OK deal at a sale price if the manufacturing quality is high. I bought a $700 Leupold VFR Patrol scope last year at a sale price of $500. The warranty is forever, service is highest in the industry, and it has an illuminated reticle that automatically shuts off when the rifle is still for several minutes, but immediately turns on when the rifle is picked up, to conserve battery power without affecting immediate usefulness. It is also "Leupold light" which takes a load off my shoulder, as well as making it more rugged under recoil, and Leupold tests their scopes against recoil like no other. On a PCP, recoil ruggedness is not much of an issue, but the VFR Patrol is suitable for rough duty like a dangerous game rifle. The milliradian target turrets track flawlessly. The VFR Patrol was mounted on my "most serious" rifle that I would trust my life to in a life threatening situation. Not an issue with a PCP air rifle. Discount from full retail price and discount from a proven track record price are two different things. Don't confuse the two. The used market has lots of deals, and even better, than this Crimson Trace deal, but you have to beat the bushes and hunt them down.

Hi guys good afternoon. This is my first post. I have been cruising Airgun Nation for a few months getting lots of information and I appreciate it. I was actually heading online today to post asking for your opinions on a good $500 FFP scope that was under 28oz, about 12" or less with zero stop and at mid range magnification illuminated. I have had a hell of a time finding something in stock that wasn't a few months waiting.

I liked Arken but, 16 week back order. I ordered a Athlon Ares already for my MK2 from Camera Land but have to wait till May to get it. I was going to order the Helos for my Airforce Talon but again have to wait on it. So I was kind of lost. I saw this post and because of the price and the exchange/return options I pulled the trigger, especially with Odoyle giving the thumbs up for the price. I am bummed to not have zero stop though as I am still new with using turrets. I want to say thank you to cannonball for this post and giving me the option to find a good deal.
