Cricket .25 pellet accuracy

Just thought somebody might find this interesting. I did just some quick pellet testing with the cricket on Christmas. I ran a bunch of H&N pellets though her to find a hollow point for hunting...again this is just a preliminary look all groups shot at forty yards (this gun pushing jsb 25 grainers at 950).

H&N Grizzlies .35" ctc

H&N Hunter .65" ctc

H&N crow mag. 1.5" ctc

H&N Hunter Extreme .8" ctc

Given these results I decided to go out and try the Grizzlies at100 yds just for kicks and for this...

I was one of the first to try the 33.95's JSB I used the originals with great success, and the newly designed MK 2's worked almost as well. Literally pellet on pellet at 25 yards. I never thought that the results I achieved with these pellets could be improved upon. Joe Rhea posted a single hole group with the 31 grain Grizzlies shooting at 50 yards. I never shot another pellet other than JSB's thru either of the 25 Crickets I've owned.

My buddy John and I shot our pt .25 Crickets yesterday but it was windy so the results weren't pretty. We shot out to sixty yards with the 25's, 33.95's I and II and Grizzlies. He really likes the Grizzlies for hunting but it seems after 50 yards the groups open up. We rarely take shots at game over 50 anyway so they work great.

I think he shoots them a little over 900 fps.

He shot a squirrel yesterday that was facing him and he hit it in the chest right below his chin with the Grizzley. The pellet went lengthwise and exited by his tail leaving a nasty wound channel all the way through. Pretty impressive performance.

Jury's still out with my gun. It seems to prefer the 25's but I think I have a slight clipping issue I need to deal with before any more testing and wasting pellets. Time got cut short yesterday so I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Campfussel, thanks I've never been much of a bench shooter as some childhood infliction left me with some slight tremors. In recent years they have seemed to subside some (or I'm getting better at controlling then). So I have started to try my hand at a little longer work, but I think my cricket makes me better than I am.

Randy68:Those are exactly the types of reports I had always heard about the Grizzlies. That's why I was a bit shocked and stocked about the results at the same time.

Guad123: I have prettyexclusively shot jsb through most of my guns but was looking for something with a hollowpoint for a little more punch. Interestingly I am pushing the 33.95 gr jsb and 31 he Grizzlies at the same speed 870-875.

In my Power Tuned Cricket that is my hunting pellet that I use. For paper punching I use the JSB MKII 34's. I get good enough hunting accuracy with the Grizzlies out to 100yds. I prefer them over JSB because they actually expand and dump there energy into the animal. I have shot JSB pellets in the same animal and when able to retrieve them they didn't expand at all. I could have put them back into my mag. and shot them again.
